Najeem Ajez Eliminated in 17th Place (A$80,000)

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Najeem Ajez
Najeem Ajez

Over on the feature table, Ari Engel raised to 57,000 with the {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Najeem Ajez moved all in for 494,000 with {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. Johan Schumacher in the big blind shoved for one million from the big blind with {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} to force out Engel.

The board came {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Spades} and Ajez failed to improve, heading to the rail in 17th place for A$80,000.

Del Vecchio Keeps Tumbling Down

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

It's been a level to forget for Mike Del Vecchio as the start of Day 4 chipleader just lost another sizable pot against Espen Solaas. It was Artur Koren who came in with a raise to 50,000 from the cutoff. Solaas called on the button and Del Vecchio got in from the big blind.

The {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop got checked to Solaas, who bet 52,000. Del Vecchio check-raised to 124,000, Koren folded and Solaas called. The {3-Hearts} rolled off on the turn and both players checked.

On the {K-Diamonds} river, Del Vecchio checked again. Solaas bet 175,000 and the American faced another tough decision. He opted to call after a solid minute of thought but once again got shown bad news: Solaas held {6-Spades}{5-Spades} for trip fives to drag the pot.

Del Vecchio Doubles Up Before Dinner

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Mike Del Vecchio
Mike Del Vecchio

In the last hand before the dinner break, Mike Del Vecchio got his remaining 250,000 in against Artur Koren.

Mike Del Vecchio: {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Artur Koren: {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The {10-Spades}{J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} flop opened up the possibility of making Koren's kicker irrelevant to chop the pot. The {2-Clubs} on the turn was a low card, not what Del Vecchio needed, but the {6-Spades} on the river was picture-perfect. Del Vecchio scored a full double-up as the players were off for a 75-minute dinner break.

Engel Wins Last Hand Before Dinner

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Kahle Burns raised to 54,000 with the {J-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Chul-Hyon Park defended his big blind with the {K-Spades}{9-Spades}. The flop fell {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Park checked, Burns checked back. The {10-Spades} turn gave Park a flush draw and he checked, as did Burns.

The {A-Diamonds} river saw Park bet 60,000 and won the pot without showdown.

Burns raised to 54,000 with {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds} first to act and Johan Schumacher called in the cutoff with {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Ari Engel three-bet to 185,000 with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} and scooped the last hand before dinner, having previously lost chips when trying to get Kim Au off the better hand.

Szymon Wysocki Eliminated in 16th Place (A$80,000)

Szymon Wysocki
Szymon Wysocki

In the first hand after the dinner break, Szymon Wysocki picked up {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} in the small blind. Action was folded to him and he shoved all in. Artur Koren folded in the big blind to give Wysocki the blinds and antes.

In the next hand, Wysocki shoved 355,000 on the button and Koren reshoved 545,000 from the small blind.

Szymon Wysocki: {A-Spades}{4-Spades}
Artur Koren: {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

The {3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop was one of the most exciting ones that could roll off, giving Wysocki the flopped wheel but Koren a flush draw. The {Q-Spades} on the turn didn't help Koren, who needed a heart to knock out Wysocki. The river was the {9-Hearts} - completing Koren's flush - and Wysocki was eliminated in 16th place.

Engel Takes from Au

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Kim Au raised to 85,000 on the button and scooped the blinds and antes.

Au raised to 95,000 the next hand and Ari Engel defended his big blind. On a flop of {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, both players checked. Engel bet the {3-Diamonds} turn for 115,000 and Au called before the {7-Spades} river was checked through.

Engel turned over {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens and that was enough to win the pot.

Au Shows

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Ari Engel raised to 70,000 on the button and Kim Au reshoved a little under 600,000 from the big blind. Engel was visibly unpleased with the situation and gave it serious thought. Eventually, he open-folded the {A-Spades}.

"Pick one," Au gestured and Engel complied. Au then flipped over the {3-Diamonds}, which prompted a hearty laugh from everyone.
