Kim and Aristidou Chop

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

On the {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop, Peter Aristidou check-called a bet of 900 by Eui Kim and the duo then checked down the {4-Spades} turn and the {5-Clubs} river.

Kim was first to show and flashed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, Aristidou replied "I expected more than that, here is mine." Aristidou chopped this pot, but has lost quite a few chips early on.

New in the Day 1a field are Pete Linton and Anton Morgenstern.

Moore Missing

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Michael Moore had claimed the first pot of the day on his table against Quan Zhou but he is no longer seated, Johannes Becker confirmed that the American had been eliminated.

According to Becker, he first lost a bigger pot against a set and then fell short with ace-king versus ace-queen in a three-bet pot when he got it in after an ace-queen high flop.

Becker himself has been doing fine so far and chipped up already. Just now he claimed a 5,000-pot with {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for jacks and deuces on a board of {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} when the heads-up river was checked through.

Dzmitry Urbanovich has now also joined the table and sits between Zhou and Becker.

Dyer Folds to Jam; Hallaert Short

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Kenny Hallaert was left very short towards the end of the first level and Michael Dyer had boosted his stack significantly by then.

It was also Dyer that stayed in the driving seat when taking on Scott Wilson. Both Dyer and Wilson invested, 1,875 on the {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop and 4,000 on the {J-Clubs} turn. Wilson jammed the {2-Spades} river for 9,900 and Dyer asked for a count before releasing his cards into the muck.

Liberto and Schwartz on Board

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Justin Liberto and Jake Schwartz have both taken a seat just now and the former has already cashed in three events prior to the Main Event. It is the first trip Down Under for the American and he is enjoying the experience on and away from the tables.

On top of that, Liberto added an Aussie Millions ring to his poker resume after taking down the A$ 1,150 Shot Clock Shootout Event #3 for A$ 46,220.

More for MacDonnell

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

On the river of a completed board {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, Senthil Subramaniam checked over to Marc MacDonnell on the button and the Irishman bet 7,700 into a pot of around 11,000. Subramaniam was sent into the think tank and the clock was called on him. A floorman arrived and one minute ran down without any decision. With five seconds remaining, Subramaniam checked the cards again and folded.

Schumacher Loses a Small One

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Johan Schumacher has some catching up to do if he wishes to repeat his final table appearance of the previous year in this very event as he dropped below the starting stack in the second level of the day.

Just now the Belgian bet the {K-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{J-Clubs} turn for 1,000 when his sole remaining opponent checked to him and received a call. Schumacher checked behind the {3-Diamonds} river and his {A-Spades}{8-Clubs} couldn't beat {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.
