Maroulis Falls To Barer

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Spiros Maroulis
Spiros Maroulis

Spiros Maroulis three-bet jammed out of the big blind and initial raiser Ami Barer snap-called.

Maroulis was in dire shape with {j-Spades}{10-Spades} versus {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and was left without any sweat on the {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, the {9-Spades} turn made things official and a meaningless {7-Clubs} on the river completed the board.

Yaroshevskyy Eliminated by Wolff

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Igor Yaroshevskyy
Igor Yaroshevskyy

The latest player to jump above half a million in chips is George Wolff, who sent Igor Yaroshevskyy to the rail.

Yaroshevskyy got his last 130,000 in with the {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Wolff had that dominated with the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

There was no help for Yarosvehskyy on a {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} board and that reduced the field to the final 30 hopefuls, who are spread around five six-max tables.

Doubles For Ullmann and Mooney

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Nino Ullmann was down to a mere 49,500 and at risk with the {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} on a {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop. Steve O'Dwyer looked him up with the {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and the {2-Hearts} turn and {10-Spades} river run out further improved Ullmann to quads.

One table over, Geoffrey Mooney shoved for 51,500 and he was called by Chino Rheem from one seat over.

Geoffrey Mooney: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}
Chino Rheem: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}

The {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{q-Spades} board gave Mooney trips eights and he remained in contention.

Fives Win a Flip, Lose Another

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Chin Wei Lim shoved for 97,000 in the small blind and was called by Chino Rheem, who had {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} on the button. Lim had {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and looked rough for a moment when a {10-Hearts} was exposed in the window, but the {5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} behind it ticketed him for a double after the {8-Spades} missed Rheem on the turn.

At another table, Michael Zhang raise-called the shove of Farid Jattin, with Zhang holding {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} against {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. Jattin hit the nut straight on the {10-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} runout.

Pupillo Short After Taking a Beat

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Nick Pupillo
Nick Pupillo

Nick Pupillo made it 17,500 in the small blind and Koray Aldemir called. Pupillo bet 20,000 on the {2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop and then 50,000 on the {2-Diamonds} turn. At the second bet, Aldemir shoved for just 24,000 more.

Pupillo called with {j-Spades}{8-Spades}, leading against {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} but fading plenty of cards. The {3-Clubs} was one he hoped to avoid, and he's now just a little over 10 big blinds.

Rafferty Doubles Through Lim

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

With plenty of chips in the middle, the turn showed {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Tom Rafferty was the player at risk against Chin Wei Lim.

Tom Rafferty: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Chin Wei Lim: {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Rafferty had flopped two pair but fell behind to the straight of Lim on the turn. However, the runout would receive another twist as the {j-Clubs} river improved Rafferty to a full house and he doubled for 116,000.

Fox Eliminated by Higgs

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Sam Higgs had a late surge on Day 1 to climb from the starting stack to more than four times of it, pulling ahead of Elio Fox, among others.

They both just clashed and Fox was the player at risk for 132,500 before the flop.

Elio Fox: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Sam Higgs: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

On a board of {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, the kicker played and Fox became the second casualty of the day.

Yokosawa Jams Into Jattin

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Masato Yokosawa took on Farid Jattin and the latter check-called a bet of 45,000 on the {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} turn. The {q-Hearts} river paired the board and Jattin checked with around 95,000 behind. Yokosawa pulled the trigger and moved all in, Jattin tank-folded.

Aldemir Battles With Zamani

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Koray Aldemir called a bet of 20,000 by Martin Zamani in a battle of the blinds with the flop showing {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and the duo then checked the {q-Spades} turn and {6-Diamonds} river. Aldemir tabled {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and that won the pot.

Shortly after, Aldemir raised the button to 11,000 and called the shove of Zamani for 165,000 in the small blind.

Martin Zamani: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Koray Aldemir: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

The board came {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Zamani joked "didn't I tell you to play better today? What's this," he grabbed the cards of his opponent and shrugged. Both had been sitting next to each other in the late stages of Day 1 already with Zamani being the most vocal player after the elimination of Sam Grafton.
