Lamb Above the Starting Stack

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Ben Lamb had seen his stack cut down well below the starting stack in the early stages and he had nursed that for some time before slowly climbing back near the starting stack of 50,000. After he was moved tables, Lamb just scored a double through Ami Barer to continue his rise.

Barer's cards were in the muck as he paid off the double for Lamb for 47,000 as he could not beat {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} on a board of {j-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. According to Barer, he had bottom two pair, two overs and the nut flush draw when they got it in.

Jattin Doubles Through Brandes

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Tam Truong opened the action with a raise to 3,500 and he was called by Fabian Brandes and Farid Jattin in the big blind. On a flop of {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}, the action checked to Brandes and he bet 4,500. Two calls followed to lead the trio to the {k-Clubs} turn and now it was checked to Brandes once more.

He made it 18,000 to go and Jattin jammed for 57,500. Truong tank-folded and Brandes made the call.

Farid Jattin: {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Fabian Brandes: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Jattin had a straight and a flush draw while Brandes was looking for the board to pair. The river was a blank {2-Diamonds} and Jattin doubled.

Chidwick Doubles Through Johnston

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

The cards were already on their backs with a main pot of around 55,000 and Richard Johnston took on Stephen Chidwick. The latter had been at risk for 54,900 on a board of {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and came out with the best of it.

Chidwick's {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs} turned a set and rivered a full house against the {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} of Johnston to send the Brit near the top of the leaderboard.

O'Dwyer Doubles Through Higgs

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Bryce Yockey opened to 3,500 and got a call from Maxi Lehmanski. Steve O'Dwyer three-bet all in for 18,600 and Sam Higgs four-bet over the top. Yockey and Lehmanski both folded.

Steve O'Dwyer: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Sam Higgs: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{j-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} with aces holding for O'Dwyer to double up to just below starting stack.

Greenwood Doubles Through Seidel

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 0 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

After both players committed 14,400 to the pot on a {7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} board, Luc Greenwood bet 10,300 and was all in on the {9-Clubs} turn.

His opponent, Erik Seidel, muttered aloud "I don't know how I got myself into this mess," before calling.

Erik Seidel: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Luc Greenwood: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}

Seidel was drawing dead against the flush of his opponent, and the river {q-Clubs} secured the double for Greenwood.

Small Pot for Lee

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Hun Lee raised to 3,000 from under the gun and was called by Alex Livingston in the small blind and Ami Barer in the big blind. On the {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop the action checked to Barer and he bet 6,300, Lee called and Livingston folded.

There was no betting action on the {4-Diamonds} turn and {j-Diamonds} river. Barer announced trey-deuce for bottom two pair and Lee tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for superior two pair in order to win the pot.

Smith Among Recent Casualties

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

The second attempt of Dan Smith to run up a stack in the very same seat was not crowned by success either and he was followed to the rail by Roman Valerstein, who departed from the very same table. Joel Feldman also ran out of chips and that reduced the field down to the last 37 players out of 52 entries.

Kozlov Flops a Flush

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Martin Kozlov min-raised and called the three-bet for the size of the pot by Cary Katz, who then jammed the {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop for the last 14,300. Kozlov quickly called and the cards were turned over.

Cary Katz: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Martin Kozlov: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}

"You got outs," Najeem Ajez joked. Katz picked up a lot of outs on the {a-Diamonds} turn but the {7-Hearts} river came a blank.

More for Johnston and Ajez

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Four ways to the {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, the action checked to Richard Johnston and he bet 1,200. Stephen Chidwick raised to 5,300 and Johnston was the only caller.

The {2-Spades} turn brought a bet of 5,500 by Chidwick and a call, Chidwick then bet the {10-Spades} river for 8,500. That sent Johnston deep into the think tank and he eventually raised to 22,000, Chidwick folded instantly.

One table over, Najeem Ajez bet the {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop for 2,500 in the cutoff and Mike Watson called on the button. The {a-Clubs} followed on the turn and a bet of 8,500 by Ajez won the pot right there.
