Second Wave for Aussie Millions $10,600 Main Event

The Aussie Millions $10,600 Main Event Day 1b kicks off today at 12.30 p.m. here at Crown Casino, in Melbourne Australia.

Yesterday saw 200 runners take their shot in the Main Event, with just 136 players making it through to bag up for Day 2. Thomas McMahon locked up the chip lead, taking through a huge 329,800 stack. Today we will find out if anyone can chase him down and pinch the top spot.

McMahon returns today as the overall tournament chip leader after finishing well ahead of the rest of the Day 1a field. Wei Han Le secured the second-biggest stack with 250,700, while Xiaohu Liu rounded out the top three on 240,200. With such sizeable stacks already set at the top of the leaderboard, today’s Day 1b field has a clear benchmark to chase if they want to position themselves strongly heading into Day 2.

Some familiar faces joined yesterday’s first flight including Joe Hachem, who managed to steadily build an impressive 130,900 stack throughout the day. Joining him was also WSOP champion Michael Mizrachi (busted on Day 1a) and NBA star Josh Giddey (168,000).

With the $25,000 Challenge Event making it down to the final table yesterday, many of the big names who ran deep there are now free to jump into the Main Event. That means today’s Day 1b flight is expected to bring another star studded field to the felt.

Day 1b of the Aussie Millions Main Event will follow the same format as today’s Day 1a with blinds starting at 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante. As in the opening flight, each level will last 90 minutes, with scheduled 15-minute breaks after every level. A longer 60-minute dinner break is scheduled for approximately 7:15 p.m, at the end of Level 4. Action will stop when players reach the end of Level 6 and the lucky survivors will bag and tag up for Day 2, joining those who already made it through from yesturday's Day 1a flight.

Late registration is open throughout the day until the start of Level 9 on Day 2, so the field is expected to fill up right until cards are back in the air tomorrow. Players are only allowed a single entry into the tournament, so we expect to see a fresh set of faces on the felt today.
