No Title for Defending Main Event Champ Wan

Five players remain in the $5,000 Challenge after Vincent Wan has been eliminated in sixth place, denying the 2020 Aussie Millions Main Event title another title.

Heads-up to a K♠9♣6♦ flop, Kahle Burns called a bet from Wan and the players checked the 2♣ turn. The river was the 7♥.

Wan bet 4,000,000 and Burns used a time bank before putting Wan all in for his last 5,400,000 behind.

Wan didn't like it, but eventually put in a reluctant call.

Burns turned over 10♦8♦ for a rivered straight and Wan showed he held K♦Q♥ for top pair — eliminating him in sixth place and giving Burns a commanding chip lead five-handed.

Dinner Break in the $5,000 Challenge

Shortly after the elimination of Xiaosheng Zheng, the remaining six players in the $5,000 Challenge headed on a 45-minute dinner break.

Zheng had been forced all in from the big blind, and ended up against Joseph Antar on a board of Q♣6♥5♣J♦

Joseph Antar: K♦9♥

Antar was ahead with his king, and the 8♣ river changed nothing to eliminate Zheng in seventh place.

Down to 7 in $5,000 Challenge

Troy Sweet has become the second elimination at the $5,000 Challenge final table, after tangling with Michael Gathy.

The pair, along with Kahle Burns, saw a flop of K♦9♠8♠ with all three checking. The turn was the J♣ and Burns checked. Sweet then shoved for 3,825,000 and was called by Gathy, with Burns folding.

Michael Gathy: K♣10♣

Sweet held the lead with two pair, but needed to fade a lot of outs against Gathy's top pair and open-ended straight draw.

The Q♦ river filled Gathy's straight and Sweet was eliminated in eighth place.

74 Entries So Far in $2,500 8-Game

The tournament clock shows 74 entries in the 2026 Aussie Millions $2,500 8-Game, surpassing the 2020 figure of 70 entries.

Just 60 players remain, with the tournament taking place next to a monster Aussie Millions Main Event satellite.

The record field is 94, which was set in 2019 when Michael Gathy took down the event.

$25,000 Challenge Field Growing Steadily

The field in the $25,000 Challenge has hit 41 players, with 35 remaining. Chip leader at the moment appears to be GGPoker Ambassador Yuki Huang who has tripled her starting stack of 300,000 chips over the first six levels.

Players are currently on a 60-minute dinner break, with four levels left on Day 1.

Hilberts First Elimination at $5,000 Challenge FT

Thijs Hilberts was the short stack heading into the $5,000 Challenge final table, but he's just been eliminated in ninth place.

He three-bet jammed with 8♠8♥ against Joseph Antar's A♦9♥. The K♣Q♦5♥ flop came safe for Hilberts, but the A♥ turn paired Antar's ace to leave Hilberts drawing to two outs.

No miracle came on the 2♦ river and Hilberts headed home with $43,755 AUD for his efforts.

Joseph Antar currently sits in the lead of the $5,000 Challenge with just 14 players remaining.

The players are all guaranteed $23,050 as they head on a 15-minute break. Following the break, one of the two remaining tables will head up on the feature table to appear on the livestream.
