JP Rounce-Sue opened and was three-bet by his table neighbor Jason Brown, who made it 480,000. When it got back to Rounce-Sue, he shoved for 1,375,000, and Brown eventually put in the chips.

Rounce-Sue was in a great spot to double up but his heart probably started racing after the 6♥8♥K♠ flop gave Brown a plethora of outs. One of which hit the turn as Brown made trips when the K♦ rolled off, leaving Rounce-Sue with just two outs. The 10♣ wasn't what he needed, and he was out in 16th.

Louis Luo Eliminated in 14th Place (A$11,700)

The flop came 10♣9♣9♦ and Cassell continued with a bet of 150,000. Luo then raised to 450,000, Cassell shoved, and Luo called off his stack of around 1,300,000 total.

Last year in Sydney, Hasan "Huss" Onay won the 2024 Australian Poker Open Main Event after a heads-up deal with Brazil's Higor Seibel.

Onay entered heads-up with a dominating chip lead, with Seibel managing to double once, before the players agreed to a deal.

The 549-player tournament took place at Doltone House Western Sydney at Club Marconi, with Onay taking home A$284,480 and the inaugural APO Main Event title.

Bedot Raises the River Big

Reece Bedot made it 200,000 to go from the hijack and Daniel Neilson three-bet the small blind to 800,000. When it got back to Bedot, he called.

The flop came K♥3♥10♥ where Neilson continued for 350,000 and Bedot called to watch the 7♦ land on the turn. Both tapped the table to see the J♣ on the river, Neilson bet 700,000 and Bedot took some time before he raised to 2,400,000. Neilson riffled his chips for a while as he pondered what to do, but eventually settled on a fold.
