Kevin Worth opened to 1,000 in middle position, and Andrew Navoni made the call on the button. Worth led out for 2,000 on the 5♥9♠5♦ flop, and Navoni called to see the 8♥ turn.
Worth slowed down with a check, making the call when Navoni fired 4,000 into the middle. Another check from worth followed the 8♠ river, and Navoni quickly bet 6,000.
That bet was called by Worth, and the hands were turned up.
"Counterfeited," said Navoni as he tabled 4♥4♦, while Worth showed A♣K♠ for eights and fives with an ace to claim the pot.
Jon McClain and Cathryn Brown both committed 5,000 before seeing the 8♥9♥9♦ flop. Brown checked from the small blind, and McClain fired another 5,000 into the middle.
That was enough to secure the pot, as Brown slid her cards into the muck.
James Speicher three-bet to 1,500 in middle position, and Jason Mayes slid out a four-bet to 4,200 in the big blind. The original raiser folded, while Speicher made the call.
Mayes quickly led out for 7,000 on the 4♣Q♠3♣ flop, and Speicher did not take long to fold. Mayes tabled K♣K♦ as he took down an early pot.
After a busy opening day of the 2026 Bar Poker Open Vegas World Championship, another chance awaits for players looking to bag up chips and battle for the massive prize pool this week at Golden Nugget Las Vegas.
The first two flights attracted a total of 658 entries, with the field comprised of BPO online and league seat winners from the past 12 months, along with Super League invitation winners. All players that participated in one of the opening flights are eligible to return today at 11 a.m. local time, with one last shot to chase the $100,000 guaranteed first-place prize. Players can also earn a $1,500 bonus by advancing to Day 2 more than once, with their largest stack carrying forward into the money.
Thus far, the top 34 players have clinched a place in Day 2, with another full room of hopefuls battling to join that group today. The schedule for Day 1b will follow the same structure as opening day, with players looking to build their starting stack of 25,000 while surviving 30-minute levels to finish in the top 10% of the field. From there, only the last 5% will earn a spot in Day 2 on Wednesday, June 10.
All tables will see ten-handed action, with the structure lengthening to 40-minute levels and eight-handed play for the remainder of the event once Day 2 begins. Breaks are scheduled after every six levels of play, and players can take advantage of a single reentry while registration remains open through the start of Level 10.
