Haskell Coolers Opponent

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

Nathaniel Haskell got his stack of 17,300 in the middle in a heads-up pot on a board reading {2-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}.

Nathaniel Haskell: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{j-}

Both players had flopped monsters as the opponent had top two pair and Haskell had top set. The board finished out {3-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Haskell doubled up to stay alive after being on the right side of the big cooler.

Figlesthaler Goes Runner-Runner to Crack Aces

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

Matthew Figlesthaler was all-in for around 1,500. A few other players had committed chips to the pot but a late position player raised to get the hand heads-up.

Matthew Figlesthaler: {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Figlesthaler was drawing thin against his opponent's aces after the flop of {4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, but he picked up a pair of threes after the {3-Clubs} turn. Miraculously, the {3-Hearts} on the river gave him trips to crack aces and stay alive.

"Quadrupling up against a single opponent!" a player at the table noted.

Sundberg Insta-Folds Top Set

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Matt Sundberg
Matt Sundberg

Matt Sundberg was out of position in a three-way pot on a board reading {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} Sundberg bet out on the turn and both opponents called behind him.

The river brought the {5-Diamonds} and Sundberg bet 3,400. Gregory Salem raised to 7,000 and the button folded, bringing the action back to Sundberg.

"I fold," he announced almost instantly before mucking {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} face-up for top set. It turned out to be a great fold as Salem tabled {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} to show he had rivered the nut flush.

Sundberg must be locked in today, because a few hands later he was quick to fold top pair against Mary Darnell, who had turned the nuts with a Broadway straight.

Qui Nguyen was in position in a heads-up pot on a board reading {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Nguyen got his stack of about 34,000 in on the turn and his opponent called with a smaller stack.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Qui Nguyen: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Nguyen had flopped a set but was behind the turned straight of his opponent. But Nguyen clapped for joy when the {4-Clubs} peeled off on the river to pair the board and improve him to a full house to send the opponent to the rail in just the second level of play.

Squeeze from Salem

Level 1 : 100/200, 0 ante

Four players limped in for 200 and Gregory Salem raised to 2,200 from the big blind. Matt Sundberg in the small blind was the only player to make the call.

"I knew the squeeze was coming," Sundberg said as he tossed in calling chips.

Sundberg checked on the flop of {3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades} and called a bet of 2,500 from Salem. Sundberg checked again on the {8-Clubs} turn and Salem checked back.

The {7-Hearts} river also checked through and Sundberg announced he had queen-high, which was no good against the {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} of Salem for king-high.

"See, I knew the squeeze was coming!" Sundberg said in affirmation.

Jacksonville's David Jackson just took a seat among the other hundred or so players in the Day 1c field so far.

Jackson has $2.9 million in live tournament earnings, according to The Hendon Mob, and he won his first World Series of Poker bracelet last September in Event #25: $777 LUCKY SEVENS as part of the 2021 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Events.

A deep run in the Main Event or a lucky draw at the elusive $50,000 bounty would push Jackson over three million in live earnings.
