Cai Eliminates Opponent in Set Over Set Hand

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

A late position player opened to 1,300 and Jessica Cai three-bet to 5,600 from the small blind. Her opponent called.

Cai checked on the flop of {6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and called a bet of 3,000 from her opponent. Cai checked again on the {8-Diamonds} turn and snap-called when her opponent shoved for around 15,000.

Opponent: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Jessica Cai: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

It was a set over set situation and Cai had the best of it. The river brought the the {2-Spades} and Cai took down the pot to send her opponent to the rail.

Mccook Eliminates Compton

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

John Compton three-bet jammed a stack of 8,000 in late position and Wendell Mccook called, while another player who had committed chips to the pot folded.

John Compton: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Wendell Mccook: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Compton was dominated but took the lead when the flop came {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. However, the {q-Diamonds} on the turn gave his opponent a Broadway straight and flush draw to go with and Compton hit the rail when the {9-Spades} peeled off on the river.

Thrift Re-Shoves, Hits Full House to Eliminate Opponent

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

A late position player open-shoved a stack of 7,000 and the small blind flat-called. Robert Thrift in the big blind then re-shoved and the small blind folded after voicing his annoyance.

"You're really gonna push me out, huh?" the player said.

Opponent: {7-Spades}{5-Spades}
Robert Thrift: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Thrift was ahead with eights and the flop came {8-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds} to improve him to a set. His opponent hit the rail after the runout of {3-Spades}{k-Clubs} improved thrift further to a full house and someone at the table pointed out that the small blind could've lost more if Thrift hadn't re-raised.

"Yeah, I'm glad he did that. Could've won a lot more if ya played it right," the opponent grumbled.

Flush for Dragomir

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Dan Dragomir was in a three-way pot on a board of {9-Clubs}{j-Spades}{k-Spades}. A short-stacked opponent moved all-in for 4,800 and Dragomir and the other player in the hand both called.

The {q-Diamonds} on the turn checked through and the {5-Spades} river also checked through.

Dragomir turned over {6-Spades}{4-Spades} for a rivered flush to win the pot against the all-in opponent's flopped straight with {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and the other player's {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for two pair.

"How to I flop a straight and lose?" asked the defeated opponent.

Bott Flops the World

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Patricia Bott was down to just a few thousand and got it in preflop against a heads-up opponent.

Patricia Bott: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

The flop came {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts} to give Bott a flush draw and gutshot straight draw to go with her live cards, making her a statistical favorite despite not having the best hand. The {9-Spades} gave her a pair of nines and the {3-Spades} on the river didn't change things to give her a double-up.

"She flopped the world!" someone at the table commented.
