Cai Wins Pot Off Malone

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Jessica Cai was in position in a three-way pot on a board reading {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. Cai fired a turn bet of 4,000 when checked to and both of her opponents called, including Dickie Malone.

The river brought the {2-Clubs} and both opponents again checked. Cai fired a bet of 12,000. and only Malone called. Cai showed {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for top pair and it appeared to be good, although there was some confusion as the dealer had accidentally mucked the river card.

"Oh wait, that gives me a set — just kidding!" Malone joked as the dealer flipped the river card back over.

Thrift Hits Two-Outer Again to Take Chip Lead

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Robert Thrift
Robert Thrift

An early position player limped in and Gil Levy completed in the small blind, while Robert Thrift raised to 7,600. The early position player then three-bet jammed a stack of 42,000 and Levy folded, while Thrift took a minute to think and asked the dealer to pull the 7,600 from the opponent's stack so he could calculate how much more it was to call.

The opponent was notably irritated by Thrift, who earlier doubled up by cracking the aces of Joey Burns after calling off with pocket fives, and asked the dealer to call the clock, despite the action only having been on Thrift for about a minute. Thrift then folded.

Just a few hands later, Thrift opened to 8,000 on the button and the same player called from the big blind. The action checked to Thrift on the flop of {4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades} and he bet 16,000. The opponent check-raised all-in and Thrift quickly called.

Opponent: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Robert Thrift: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The opponent had out-flopped Thrift with a pair of nines and the {10-Diamonds} on the turn didn't change things. But the river brought the {8-Clubs} to give Thrift a set and he jumped in the air in celebration, knocking over one of the many beers he's had beside him today in the process.

"Yeah baby! Let's f***ing go! Let's f***ing go!" he screamed as the opponent left the tournament area in disbelief.

Salem Gets There to Stay Alive

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

The button opened to 5,000 and Gregory Salem three-bet shoved a stack of 23,500 from the small blind. The action folded back to the button, who quickly called.

Gregory Salem: {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Salem stood up from his seat when he saw he was far behind, and the flop of {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} didn't help him much. But the turn brought the {4-Hearts} to give Salem the lead and he punched his fist in the air multiple times as the {2-Clubs} bricked off on the river to win him the pot and keep him alive.

Pardo Scores Double Knockout With Broadway Straight

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A middle position player open-shoved a stack of 11,000 and Gabriel Pardo re-shoved from the small blind. Gloria Jackson tanked for several minutes in the big blind and eventually called off with around 20,000.

Middle Position: {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Gloria Jackson: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Gabriel Pardo: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{q-Hearts} to give the middle position player the lead with a pair of kings, but the {j-Clubs} on the turn gave Pardo a lock on the hand with a Broadway straight and had both opponents drawing dead heading to the {4-Spades} river. Pardo had both opponents covered and scored a double knockout.

Lu Cracks Kings to Eliminate Adams

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Wendy Lu opened in late position and Clayton Adams three-bet shoved a short stack from the small blind. Lu called.

Clayton Adams: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Wendy Lu: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Adams was in great shape to double up and Lu received no help from the {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop of {q-Hearts} turn. The {a-Hearts} on the river brought gasps out of those at the table as Lu paired her ace to eliminate Adams in brutal fashion.
