Matthew Cannuli Breaks Through in 5-Card PLO

The $650 5-Card Pot-Limit Omaha attracted 44 entries at the Borgata Summer Poker Open, generating a $25,080 prize pool.

When the dust settled, Matthew Cannuli emerged victorious to claim $9,390.

According to The Hendon Mob, the victory is Cannuli's first recorded live tournament win, pushing his career earnings beyond $73,000. It also marks his seventh recorded cash at Borgata.

Rickert Tops Day 1a; Rodriguez Chases Cannuli in Day 1b of Super Deep 6-Max

The first two starting flights of the $650 Super Deep 6-Max wrapped up on Tuesday at the Borgata Summer Poker Open, with 24 players advancing to Day 2.

Day 1a produced 16 survivors from 94 entries, led by Jerick Rickert, who bagged 667,000 chips. Robert Anastasio (456,000) and Joseph Patalune (411,000) rounded out the top three, while Braden Kulley (328,000) and Michael Surick (316,000) also finished with healthy stacks.

In Day 1b, Thomas Cannuli edged the 50-entry field with 576,000, narrowly ahead of Mario Rodriguez (423,000) and Harrison Dobin (296,000) along with five other players.

Two more opportunities remain to qualify. Day 1c got underway at 11:15 a.m. and has its late registration still open. Day 1d, starts at 5:15 p.m. and is the last chance for players to get a spot in Day 2.

PokerNews' live reporting begins on Day 2, when the surviving players combine into a single field.

It's another busy afternoon at the Borgata Summer Poker Open powered by BetMGM Poker, with both the $650 Super Deep 6-Max and $500 H.O.R.S.E. gaining momentum.

The Super Deep 6-Max has reached its first break of Day 1c, with 88 entries already on the board. Play will resume on Level 5, and with eight more levels of late registration still to come. There's also one final chance to qualify later today, with Day 1d getting underway at 5:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, the $500 H.O.R.S.E. has just gotten underway. The mixed-game event has attracted 27 entries through the opening level, with registration remaining open as players settle into the five-game rotation.

Dongwuk Moon Adds Another Borgata Trophy

Dongwuk Moon continued his love affair with Borgata by taking down the $500 T.O.R.S.E. for $5,735 after a five-way deal.

The victory is Moon's sixth recorded tournament win at Borgata and his second Borgata title of 2026, having also won the RGPS Big O event in March. The two-time WSOP Circuit ring winner now has more than $460,000 in recorded live tournament earnings.

The event drew 66 entries and produced a $28,050 prize pool.

Super Deep 6-Max Building Early

The $650 Super Deep 6-Max is underway for Day 1c, with the tournament already attracting 57 entries through the opening two levels.

Players are currently battling in Level 2, with blinds at 200/300 and a 300 big blind ante. There's still plenty of time for the field to grow, with 80 minutes until the next break and 10 more levels of late registration remaining.

Another starting flight gets underway this evening at 5:15 p.m., giving players one final chance to book a seat in Thursday's Day 2. If the first two flights are anything to go by, another healthy turnout is on the cards.

With the PLO Championship in the books, attention now shifts to the next headline event on the schedule, the $200K GTD $650 Super Deep 6-Max.

Players have two opportunities to punch their Day 2 ticket today, with Day 1c getting underway at 11:15 a.m. before the final starting flight, Day 1d, takes its turn at 5:15 p.m.. By the end of the evening, the full Day 2 field will be set ahead of PokerNews' live reporting on Thursday.

Away from the six-max tables, there's plenty for mixed-game fans to sink their teeth into. The $500 H.O.R.S.E. begins at 1:15 p.m., followed by the $500 PLO/NLH at 2:15 p.m.

The day wraps up with the $250 Triple Green Chip Bounty, giving players one final shot at some bounty-hunting action when cards go in the air at 7:15 p.m.

Brandon Mueller Storms to the $650 PLO Championship Title

Brandon Mueller, who admits he was dealt two aces at least 14 times during the day, held the chip lead through most of it and ended up defeating Danny Chang heads-up to win the $650 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship.

The Pennsylvania pro and five-time WSOP Circuit ring winner added a third title here at the Borgata to his nearly $700,000 in live tournament earnings for beating out the 197-player field.

Daniel Ingelmo Busts "Good Guy" Rishi Mehta

Daniel Ingelmo limped in from the small blind, then called when Rishi Mehta moved all in for 12,000 from the big blind.

Ingelmo had Mehta dominated, and the 7♣2♣3♦9♣4♥ board gave both players top pair. Ingelmo's queen-kicker continued to play, and Mehta was sent to the rail.

"He really is a great guy," tablemate Robert Hwang said about the departed Mehta after he left the table. Ingelmo, meanwhile, is currently sitting on a stack of 120,000 and in contention for the chip lead on Day 1b of the $650 Super Deep 6-Max.

There are around 21 players remaining out of 40 entries as the field plays on Level 8.

During Level 7 of Day 1b of the $650 Super Deep 6-Max, a player under the gun bet 3,500 on a flop of 8♠3♥7♣ and Stan Wu raised to 10,000 in the small blind. His opponent called.

The turn was the 4♦ and Wu bet another 15,000. His opponent quickly called, and Wu shoved in his last 15,000 even before the dealer revealed the 8♥ river. The under-the-gun player quickly folded, and Wu took the pot to increase his stack to around 70,000.
