Martone Rockets Into the Lead

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Well, that escalated quickly.

After a series of preflop raises there was a four-way all in right in front of the PokerNews Live Reporting desk. When we stood up, the action was capped with a third all in to 47,200, and Tommy Martone, who had everyone covered, called.

The last player to moved all in revealed {q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Martone showed {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}, and the other two players showed {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

There was a queen on the flop, but there was a nine as well, and the {q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} kept Martone in the lead. He filled up on the turn when the {q-Spades} hit the felt, and the {7-Spades} bricked off on the river.

All three players hit the rail, while Martone now has over a quarter of a million chips.

One in the Chamber(s)

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

After a few players limped in to create a smallish pot before the flop, the dealer fanned the {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs} across the felt.

A player in the big blind led out for a bet of 5,100, and Gary Chambers decided to put him to the test with a massive overbet, shoving all in for his last 44,900.

The bettor then went as deep into the tank as the rules allow - the clock was called and counted down to one before he tossed his {9-Spades}{7-Hearts} face up into the muck.

"I knew that was your hand, exactly..." said Chambers slyly, while sliding his own hand face down toward the dealer. "I had most of your outs!"

Shame in His Game

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

A player just caught a fortuitous runner-runner win to claim a pot worth nearly 70,000, but after catching extremely lucky to do so, the young man refused to provide his name.

He held the {k-Spades}{j-Spades} and flopped top pair on the {7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop, eventually coming from behind to make a straight when the turn and river brought the {10-Clubs} and {q-Spades} respectively.

If he can catch a few more lucky cards to survive the day with a stack intact, we'll be sure to catch his name during the bag-and-tag portion of the evening.

Merdinger Finds a Triple

After a few preflop raises, there was a three-way all in right near our reporting desk moments ago. Jane Stanton Hitchcock had both of her opponents covered and held the dominant hand with {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. Maureen Merdinger had the smallest stack and {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}, while a third player was stuck in the middle and also well behind with {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

Merdinger was resigned to her fate, gathering her things to leave, but Hitchcock told her she would hit. She was right - the dealer fanned a flop of {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

The turn and river bricked off {4-Hearts}, {a-Diamonds} respectively, and Merdinger tripled to around the starting stack of 25,000. Hitchcock won a small side pot, and now has around 65,000 chips.

Louis Delbrocco
Louis Delbrocco

A player raised to 4,000 in early position, Louis Delbrocco called on his direct left, and the action folded to a third player in the big blind, who moved all in for 24,800. The original raiser begrudgingly folded, actually grunting as his hand hit the muck, and Delbrocco went into the tank.

After he confirmed the count with the dealer, he pushed forward enough chips to make the call.

Delbrocco: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

It was a classic race situation, and Delbrocco remained ahead after the flop ({7-Hearts}{k-Spades}{4-Clubs}), and the turn ({10-Spades}). The ten gave the player four extra outs to make Broadway, but the {10-Hearts} on the river was a brick, and the player was eliminated.

Delbrocco is up to around 90,000 chips.
