James Woods first bullet was a blank on Day 1b

The seat formerly occupied by actor and poker enthusiast James Woods has been taken by a decidedly less recognizable face, signalling that Woods was recently eliminated.

His former tablemate Chris Reslock was another recent casualty, after grinding a short stack for the first few levels.

Both players are now seated at new tables with fresh 25,000 stacks, having taken advantage of the unlimited reentry option available through the first nine levels of play.

Sinishtaj Gets Value

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Tony Sinishtaj tossed out 600 into around 2,000 or so on a board of {2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and his opponent went into the tank. The two players shared a laugh, and eventually Sinishtaj's opponent reached into his stack and grabbed enough chips to make the call.

He committed them, and Sinishtaj rolled over {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for jacks and nines. His opponent mucked.

Sinishtaj is have a very successful day thus far, and has around 50,000 chips.

Joe Cool

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Joseph Stiers
Joseph Stiers

After an open to 800 and a call in front of him, young semi-pro Joseph Stiers flatted from the button to see the flop fall {4-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

The opener continued with a bet of 1,100 on the flop, folding the other player in the hand. Stiers, however, decided to peel one off and he flatted once again. When fourth street produced the {10-Hearts} the opener fired away with a 1,550 bet, but this time Stiers upped the ante, making it 5,000 even to play.

His opponent called the raise to bringing the {a-Clubs} on the river, before shoving his last 12,025 into the middle for the power play.

Stiers then went deep into the tank to contemplate his options, talking himself through the hand and wondering aloud about various aspects of the hand. Eventually, after appearing ready to fold at least once, Stiers mentioned something about the reentry format before making the call.

Stiers: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Opener: {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Stiers had turned the nuts with a Broadway straight, but the arrival of a second ace on the river to pair the board gave him pause, as running into a full house was a distinct possibility.

"Nice bluff man..." said Stiers in all sincerity. "I mean, you're supposed to have a full house there most of the time, so that bluff probably should've worked. But it's a reentry you know?"

There was approximately 15,000 in the pot and Daniel Buzgon moved all in on the river for 17,250 with the board showing {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. His opponent tanked for about a minute before announcing a call. "Take it," said Buzgon, standing up and turning over {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}. His opponent showed {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Buzgon was immediately off to the cage to reenter.

Megan Milburn
Megan Milburn

During the early stages of yesterday's Day 1a, we remarked on the presence of local grinders Megan Milburn, Natale Kuey and Michael Marder, each of whom showed up to take a shot at this $1 million guaranteed prize pool.

Today, after misfiring on their first bullet (or bullets), each of these three players is in the house for a second crack at building a stack.

Milburn is no stranger to success here the Borgata, after scoring a runner-up finish in the Ladies event at the recently concluded Spring Poker Open.

Kuey is another runner-up finisher from the Spring Poker Open, after taking home $13,012 in a side event.

Marder is an East Coast grinder who came up cutting his teeth against the region's best players, and helped in paying homage to the recently deceased local legend Mike "Little Man" Sica during the Spring Poker Open.

Reslock Earns a Small One

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With a flop of {9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} already on board we watched longtime touring pro Chris Reslock contest a pot against early table captain Cuong Phung.

After Phung checked the action to Reslock, the veteran tournament player fired out a 1,100 bet which Phung quickly called.

When the turn came {4-Spades} Phung tapped the table once again, but this time he folded to a 3,300 wager from Reslock. On the very next deal Reslock took down another small pot, and he has nearly replenished his starting stack after a few early losses.

Still Filing In

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

We took a trip over into the poker room to see if there were any players we recognized, and quite a few popped up. Among them are Manh Nguyen, Brian Ali, Nancy Martin, and Cherish Andrews. Andrews went deep in the 2012 WPT Borgata Open, while Nancy is the mother of Michael Martin, who won EPT London in Season 5.

Nancy has a few results of her own, including an $8,000 score right here at Borgata in 2011.

Also among the new faces is Gabriel Diaz. Diaz, who traveled all the way from Peru to participate in the Borgata Spring Poker Open, won the 2013 Latin Series of Poker Main Event for $123,675.
