Matt Cooper dominated through much of Day 1c, building one of the biggest stacks in the room and pummeling his opponents into submission.
Cooper rode the momentum into the money here on Day 2, but a recent hand saw him ship about half of his stack across the table to Bryan Choi.
Choi's name may ring a bell as well, what with his deep run to a 9th place finish in the Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event last January.
The action began when Cooper shoved all in before the flop (this may have been an open-shove or a three-bet), putting his last 382,000 into the middle from early position. The action quickly folded around to Choi, who quickly called off his last 168,000.

Cooper had brought a pocket pair to bear with his sevens, but Choi had him crushed with a pair of nines. As the dealer prepared to burn and turn, Philip Neiman mentioned aloud that Cooper would need to spike a one-outer, as he had folded the . Choi perked up at this revelation, saying "hold up one time" while watching the dealer and the deck decide his fate.
Proving that poker is one of the most dramatic games we play, the door card was the and the table let loose a collective gasp with the aforementioned one-outer coming through. Cooper barely had time to crack a smile though, as the and were slid out from underneath his saving seven.
With that, Cooper acknowledged that he was now drawing dead, before cutting out the chips which now belonged to Choi.

"Mad Dog" Mike Shasho was all in for 430,000 when we arrived at the table. A very short-stacked player was already committed from the blinds - he only looked like he had a few dozen thousand - and Zbigniew Fido was in the tank.
Fido opted to make the call, creating a 1.1 million-chip pot, and the hands were tabled.

A clash of two big stacks just occurred, with longtime professional Brett Richey clashing with Christopher Nugent in what can only be described as a post-flop cooler.
Nugent opened for 60,000 from the button and next to act, and Richey defended his small blind by flatting to see the flop. After the dealer fanned the across the felt, Richey check-called a bet of 150,000 and an arrived on the turn.
Another check from Richey prompted an all-in wager of about 240,000 from Nugent, and Richey snapped the bet off while tabling for the stone cold nuts. Although he had flopped Broadway and had a hammerlock on the hand, Richey was still fading outs when Nugent rolled over his for middle set.
River:
The board failed to pair and Nugent's set could not be built into a boat, leaving Richey's nut straight in the lead. With over $1.3 million in reported live earnings, Richey is one of the more experienced players left in the field, meaning the 1.25 million chips at his disposal will be wielded by a player who knows just how to use them.
Following his exit Nugent took to Twitter to provide his own postmortem, graciously bowing out after making an impressive run to the money:
It was a fun ride @BorgataPoker. Out in 128. JJ vs KQ. Flopped middle set vs flopped straight. #goodgame #SpringPokerOpenFollow @CNugentPoker

"Mad Dog" Mike Shasho raised to 50,000 from middle position, a player two spots to his left moved all in for 213,000, and the action folded back to Shasho. He tanked for a considerable amount of time, but just couldn't commit the extra 163,000 chips, folding the face up.
His opponent didn't show.
At the table, Mark Sykes is doing quiet well post-bubble, chipping up to 1.1 million.
