Kachittavong Still On a Heater, Cracking Aces Before Break

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Soukha Kachittavong
Soukha Kachittavong

Soukha Kachittavong won the $400 Labor Day NLH event at Foxwoods, pocketing $14,344 just a few days ago, increasing his career earnings to more than $1,364,000.

His run-good continues here today. On the last hand of the level before the break, he opened early for 6,600, then the big blind in Seat 3 moved in. Soukha tossed in the call and tabled {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. He was trailing his opponent's {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}, but demonstrated his confidence, reaching over to drag the pot before the flop was spread.

His confidence was rewarded when the {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop gave him a straight. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn paired the board so there was a small sweat, but the {5-Hearts} on the river sealed his opponent's fate. Kachittavong finally got to pull the pot and left it in a puddle as he headed out for the 15 minute break.

Lillis Firing Again

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
James Lillis
James Lillis

James Lillis played in Flight C yesterday, but is back again today, obviously hoping for a better result.

Just over a month ago, he took down his best live cash of $94,456 when he won the $300 Parx Big Stax event. He was in the final three players out of a field of 2,293 when an agreement was made to carve up the remaining prize pool. That score pushed his lifetime earnings beyond $500,000.

Lilis also has three Borgata titles and the distinction of being one of only a handful of players to successfully defend a title, year over year. He won the $300 NLH event in Spring of 2014 ($48,895) and again in Spring of 2015 ($32,160).

Reese Returns

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Adam Reese
Adam Reese

During the Summer Poker Open in July of this year, Adam Reese carved his name in Borgata's history books when he won two trophy events during the 18-day series. The poker dealer from Pennsylvania may be considering a new career after winning both the $300 Deeper Stack NLH ($14,805) and the $450 Almighty Stack NLH ($68,806*).

He's the first player to do that since Spring of 2018 when Barry Leventhal took two during the series, winning both the Seniors event and the Pot Limit Omaha event. Fewer than a dozen players have bragging rights to this accomplishment, including Asher Conniff, Howard Wolper, Mike Linster, Brian O'Donoghue, Yuebin Guo, Joe Palma, and Barry Levy.

Robert Nguyen Slips a Little

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante
Robert Nguyen
Robert Nguyen

Robert Nguyen was up to about 140,000 chips, then opened to 1,300 under-the-gun. A short-stack went all-in and two other players came along for the flop of {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. It was checked around, then the {j-Spades} turn card prompted a bet from the small blind in Seat 2, which Nguyen called.

River was the {8-Hearts} and Seat 2 fired 4,500. Nguyen called, showing {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for top pair, but Seat 2 had {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for aces-up to take the pot. Nguyen was left with about 120,000 and is still among the early big stacks in Flight E.

Back in April of this year, Robert claimed his first win at Borgata in the $500 Black Chip Bounty Deep Stack NLH, along with more than $48,000 in prize money. His best live cash, however, came in the 2017 Winter Poker Open DeepStack Kick-Off event. He took second place and more than $205,000 in a seven-way adjusted payout agreement.

If At First You Don't Succeed...

Eric Siegel
Eric Siegel

Eric Siegel is back on the felt this morning after a failed attempt at bagging in Flight D last night. He's never one to give up too easily, though.

He collected his fourth Borgata title back in July during the Summer Poker Open. In the $300 Deep Stack NLH post-lim event, he was part of an adjusted payout agreement and as the chip leader, took first place, $30,000, and the trophy.

Siegel surely has a couple more bullets in his pocket if necessary, but he's not one to continue throwing good money after bad. With more than $875,000 in tournament earnings, he's proven he's got the skills to go deep.
