McGuinness Continues Hot Streak

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
John McGuinness
John McGuinness

At the start of this series, John McGuinness was part of a heads-up deal at the end of Event #1: $600 Deep Stack Kick Off NLH event, that resulted in him taking second place and more than $176,000.

He went on to cash in Event #10: $400 Almighty Stack NLH for more than $6,300 and then cashed in Event #18: $3,500 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH for more than $10,000.

Now he's challenging John Malvasio for the chip lead in this event, stacking about 300,000 as they approach the end of the registration period.

"Hasn't Lost a Hand Yet"

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
John Malvasio
John Malvasio

John Malvasio has taken an early lead with 227,000 and according to his table, "Hasn't lost a hand yet."

If he keeps that up, he'll win the whole thing.

That's kinda hard to do, though. Keep an eye on this one!

Jackson Scoops a Nice One

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Darlene Jackson
Darlene Jackson

On the turn with a board of {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and one short-stack already in, a side pot was brewing between Darlene Jackson (hijack) and Seat 9 (button).

Jackson got the last of her chips in and called, tabling {a-Spades}{q-Spades} for top pair. Seat 9 had {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for flush draw with gutshot, and the shortie in Seat 3 had {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and was out-kicked and drawing dead, since pairing his kicker on the river would give Seat 9 a straight.

The river was the {9-Hearts} however, and changed nothing. Seat 3 was felted and Jackson scooped both main and side pots. She's up to about 118,000.

Look! Up in the Front! It's Super-Asil!

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Kenan Asil
Kenan Asil

Kenan Asil is wearing his red jacket tied around his neck like a cape, giving him a bit of a superhero vibe.

It seems to be working for the Bulgarian, as he's already built his starting stack up to ~180,000.

Gordon Takes One Without Showdown

Arnaldo Gordon
Arnaldo Gordon

After three players limped, Arnaldo "AG" Gordon raised to 3,000 from the big blind, getting called by Seat 1 (utg) and Seat 8 (sb).

On the flop of {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{6-Diamonds} Gordon fired 6,000 and only Seat 1 called to see the {5-Diamonds} on the turn.

Gordon eyed his opponent's stack (fewer than 11,000 chips) and plopped out a stack of blue chips, well covering him. After a couple of seconds, Seat 1 released his hand and Gordon took the pot.

A Round of Early Chip Counts

50/50 for Reina

Frank Reina
Frank Reina

Onofrio "Frank" Reina is batting .500 for this series, so today's event is going to be the tie-breaker. He cashed in both last weekend's Event #13: $560 Super Survivor and Event #14: $400 Saturday Series Deep Stack NLH, but was shutout the first weekend of the series.

Reina is a working man and has a job that keeps him busy most days, so only gets to come play a few events during the series. Today's event is going to determine if this is a winning series for him or not!
