Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Mike Wheeler
Mike Wheeler

More than 12,000 was in the middle with three-handed action on a completed board of {2-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Thomas Fuller checked in the big blind and Andrew Miller followed suit under the gun, putting action onto Mike Wheeler in the cutoff, who fired out a bet.

"Eighty-one (hundred)?" asked Fuller upon seeing the chips hit the felt. The dealer confirmed and Fuller tossed in chips to match with Miller wasting no time folding behind to take the hand to showdown.

"I have the nuts," announced Wheeler as he tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. Fuller mucked.

"You and your flushed," said Miller as Wheeler took down the pot, bringing him to nearly 49,000 in the closing minutes of Level 2.

Gioia Doubles To Receive a Near-Fresh Stack

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Phil GIoia
Phil GIoia

Norm Tanner opened the action with a raise to 800 in early position and received calls from Phil Gioia in the hijack and the player on the button. Postflop action checked to the player on the button, who bet 2,000 on {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Tanner folded and Gioia called.

Action was then heads up to the turn {5-Hearts}, where Gioia checked again. The player on the button bet 3,000 and Gioia check-shoved for 10,700. The player on the button called.

Phil Gioia: {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Player on the Button: {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

Gioia's queens full were ahead of his opponent's lesser full house and he needed only to fade the case five to earn the double. He had no issue doing so as {9-Hearts} completed the runout and the double was shipped his way, taking him back up to nearly starting stack after a slow start to the afternoon.

Steve Wilkie
Steve Wilkie

A player in early position raised to 400 and saw Ted Shenefelt call on his direct left. Zach Gutierrez and Steve Wilkie also called in the hijack and cutoff, respectively, with the players on the button and in the big blind also coming along.

"Six players," said the dealer before spreading a flop of {4-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The first five players checked, putting action onto the player on the button. He bet 800 and saw action quickly fold back to Wilkie, who was the last line of defense. Wilkie called.

The turn came {k-Clubs} and Wilkie put out a bet of 1,000. His opponent folded and he took down the pot, teasing {9-Diamonds} as the chips were shipped his way.

"Welcome to the table, sir," said tablemate Jason Welch with a smile as Wilkie won the first hand he was dealt for the afternoon. "We're not that friendly to everyone, you know!" Welch added.
