Gius Empties the Clip

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Greg Gius
Greg Gius

Greg Gius opened to 400 from under the gun and was called by Joel Verbeck on his direct left. Action folded around to the blinds, who both called.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and both blinds checked. Gius made a continuation-bet of 1,000. Verbeck called and the blinds got out of their way.

The turn fell {6-Clubs} and Gius continued for another 2,300. Verbeck called.

The dealer then burned and turned the river {9-Spades} and Gius postured for a moment before looking at his chips and pushing his remaining stack forward. The dealer responded by putting a red, "all-in" button in front of him and Verbeck now found himself faced with a decision for the majority of his remaining chips.

After about 35 seconds, Verbeck folded and the dealer sent the pot Gius' way.

Coogan Escapes Disaster

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Tricia Coogan
Tricia Coogan

Tricia Coogan had just recounted a hand where she ecstatic about having lost the minimum. According to her and tablemate Mike Wheeler, action folded around to the player in the small blind and he completed. Tricia Coogan was in the big blind with pocket queens and decided to check.

The flop came {a-}{a-}{k-} and the small blind checked to her. She fired a small bet and he called. The turn came {10-} and the small blind again check-called a small bet from her.

The river came {k-} to bring aces and kings on the board with a ten, giving her nothing more than a queen kicker. Her opponent bet and she folded.

Upon her folding, she was shown {a-}{a-} for flopped quads, and in total, her queens-versus-aces situation only ended up costing her around 800 in chips.

Ryan Dodson raised from the cutoff over an under-the-gun limper, putting in a yellow, T1,000 chip. Chris Tryba called on the button and the small blind announced a raise to 2,200. The limper and Dodson both folded and Tryba called.

The flop fell {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and the small blind checked. Tryba fired 2,000 and was called.

The turn came {3-Hearts} and the small blind checked to Tryba again. Tryba bet another 5,000. His opponent seemed puzzled, thinking about his decision for a bit before calling. The river was {3-Spades} and both players checked.

The small blind tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for ace-king high and Tryba showed {j-Spades}{8-Spades} to win the pot with a pair of jacks. His opponent gave the table a flat-palmmed smack, leaving his hand on the table as the dealer sent the pot to Tryba and he added the chips to his stack.

Perlman Gets Lucky To Miss His Flush Draw

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Aaron Frei opened the action to 300 and received calls from David Perlman on the button as well as both players in the blinds. The flop came {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and action checked to Frei. He made a continuation-bet for 800 and Perlman called. The two blinds folded and action proceeded heads up.

The turn came {9-Diamonds} and Frei fired another barrel for 2,300. Perlman stuck around, bringing the river {j-Clubs}. Both players quickly checked.

Frei tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} for ace-king high and a missed nut-flush draw. Perlman showed {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a missed queen-high flush draw that had flopped top pair. His pair of queens proved to be good and he took down the pot as the two talked about how lucky he was that a third diamond did not hit on the river.
