Flashback: Guillermo Gordo Ships 2025 Coolbet Open Main Event

Last year, the 2025 Coolbet Open €550 Main Event attracted a field of 493 entries creating a prize pool of €234,175. A field consisting mostly of players from the Baltics and Scandinavia battled for three days at the Chesterfield Poker Club in Tallinn, Estonia, but ultimately it was Spanish regular Guillermo Gordo who was the last man standing.

After a dominating display on Day 3, Gordo captured the first-place prize of €48,400, his third-best live score according to The Hendon Mob. Perhaps more importantly, the Coolbet Open Main Event was Gordo's maiden major live victory, meaning he will go home with his first-ever trophy. To claim the title, Gordo defeated Asgeir Lund after a heads-up that lasted only a few hands.

Arriving on the 2♣3♠8♠J♦ turn, Anders Hansson bet 1,500 from the big blind, and Arasch Mirzai raised to 3,500 on the button. Hansson responded with a three-bet to 10,000, which Mirzai called.

Hansson tossed in another 10,000 on the 3♥ river. Mirzai debated a bit, then called for the majority of his stack.

Hansson was displeased as he revealed J♠2♠ for a counterfeit two pair, meaning Mirzai won the pot with A♥J♣.

On a completed A♠5♦6♥5♠Q♥ board, Gunnar Lie bet 3,500 into a pot of 14,000 from the small blind. David Battersby called in middle position, forcing Vegard Granli to fold in the cutoff.

"I have a house," Lie started to declare, but he quickly let out a disgusted groan and tabled 8♥6♣ for just a pair of sixes.

Lie had misread his hand, meaning Battersby was free to pick up the pot with A♦6♦ for two pair.

With the pot at 8,500, big blind Anders Hansson, Rune Greaker in the hijack, and Einar Einarsson in the cutoff all checked the 9♥3♣Q♣ flop. Hansson then bet 5,000 on the 4♦ turn, which only Einarsson called.

The K♣ river saw Hansson check to Einarsson, who bet 10,000 in response. Hansson tossed in a reluctant call after some thought, and Einarsson revealed J♣10♣ for a flush, the winning hand.

One hand later, Greaker lost his final 13,000 to Arasch Mirzai, becoming one of the early eliminations of Day 1b.

Big blind Enea Subashi and Asle Blomacher on the button had gathered 6,000 in the middle when they saw the 2♠9♣10♠ flop. Subashi checked to Blomacher, who bet 2,500. Subashi called, and the J♦ turn was dealt.

Blomacher sized up to 6,500, and Subashi check-called again. Subashi did not check a third time on the J♣ river, instead opting to lead with an all-in bet of 10,900.

"Really?" Blomacher asked his opponent, but he soon called without getting a response.

Subashi tabled K♠J♥ for trip jacks, leaving the A♦A♣ of Blomacher in the dust. Blomacher was left with less than nine big blinds, which he lost not much later to be eliminated.
