"Snoopy, Snoopy," beckoned a member of staff. "There's a big hand here." And he wasn't wrong, as I arrived to the battle scene to see three soldiers crossing swords preflop.

It was, however, a hand immersed in controversy, Polish pro Marcin Horecki throwing in 6,500 and failing to recognise that Stephen Chidwick had moved all in before him for 19,000. With the floor called, Horecki was informed that he could either relinquish the 6,500 or make up the 19,000. He chose the latter.

But the drama didn't end there, as Julian Thew opted to push all in from the blinds for around 50 to 60,000. After a moment or two of deliberation, Horecki made the call and it was on their backs.

Thew = {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Horecki = {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Chidwick = {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The {8-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop was disastrous for Thew, leaving him with just one out for his tournament life. Chidwick, meanwhile, although commencing the hand in third place, now had a flush draw to stay alive. However, no such card emerged as the {3-Hearts} turn and {7-Spades} river both bricked out to give Horecki a monster pot.

As a result of this victory, Horecki eliminated two players in one fell swoop and now boasts a stack of 190,000.
