Ludovic Lacay was back up to 30,000 and Jean-Mathieu Torre was nowhere to be seen last I checked, and we suspect that these two pieces of information may be connected.
As this was being noted, a gentleman moved all in for around 4,500 from the cutoff and found himself called by Lacay from the button. His pocket deuces were behind all the way against Lacay's pocket eights on an uneventful board, and Lacay is now up to 35,000.
One gentleman who has been rather quiet all day, but has nonetheless been quietly accumulating chips, is Richard Gryko. Even though 8,500 in chips found its way into the pot pre and on the flop, Gryko and his opponent both checked the turn and the river. After inquiring who had to show first, and being informed that it was on him, Gryko turned over for two pair and a missed flush draw, and his opponent's mucking of his cards, suggested that the ace was good to take the pot. Gryko's now on around 32,000.
Johnny Lodden has further boosted his stack, knocking out an opponent on a most Lodden-favourable board. There was some raising preflop, and his opponent moved in on the flop. Lodden happily called with for the made flush; his hapless opponent turned over and failed to improve on the turn and the river.
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies is currently pacing about in front of the Hyatt Regency Warsaw, having a cell phone conversation and enjoying the nip in the Polish air after being eliminated from the tournament by the man who can now claim the chip lead-- Serguei Pomerantsev. The Russian took out the Fin when his held up against Sahamies' , and vaulted into the lead, his chip stack now totaling just over 40,000.
Gavin Griffin is down to 8,000 after calling Sergey Shcherbatsky all in for around 7,000 on the river of a board. Griffin thought long and hard before reluctantly making the call; Shcherbatsky promptly turned over the and the less relevant , and a despondent Griffin mucked.
Former chip leader Arnaud Mattern bet 1,875 on a flop, only for Leszek Krawczynski to make it 4,875. Mattern promptly moved all in for another 11,500, and Krawczynski decided against it and folded. Mattern on a respectable 18,000 now.
His stack previously in the 30,000s, Ludovic Lacay has fallen on hard times of late, dropping down to around 13,500. He has scraped a few back though, courtesy of fellow Frenchman Jean-Mathieu Torre. Lacay raised to 800 preflop and Torre called from the big blind. Torre bet out 2,000 on the flop, smooth called by Lacay, and then backed down and checked the turn. Lacay fired out 3,500 and Torre gave it up there.
