Mystery Hand for Torre

Jean-Mathieu Torre bet a whopping 5,000 into an already rather whopping pot on the turn of a {10-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {3-Hearts} board, and his opponent sighed. "What do you have?" he asked, not really expecting an answer. "Kings?" Torre merely shrugged, and his opponent grudgingly passed the {Q-Hearts} face up. Torre now on 21,500.

Aces Fail to Pay for Sahamies

Ilari Sahamies raised and got himself two callers in the button and the big blind. They proceeded to a {9-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} flop which the big blind and Sahamies checked. The button bet 1,725, the big blind passed, and Sahamies called to see a turn. They both checked the {7-Clubs} turn and, indeed, the {2-Hearts} river, at which point Sahamies turned over some rather unexpected pocket aces for the flopped full house. There was much hilarity at the rail.

Viva La France

Close on the heels of his fellow countryman Arnaud Mattern is Ludovic Lacay, currently sitting on around 31,000. Much of his stack seems to have come from him calling quite a large bet on the turn, and then betting to a check on the river. His opponent turned over {J-?} {10-?}, but Lacay took it down with {A-?} {7-?}. "I got lucky," he said unnecessarily.

Board: {9-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {A-?}

Fry is Toast

Winner of the last EPT back in Budapest, Will Fry, is nowhere to be seen and thus presumed busted. There is a rumour that he had a dream that he was going to win back-to-back EPTs, but things seen in dreams can seldom be trusted and the premonitions of Mr. Fry are no exception.

Lodden Luck Streak is Over

Johnny Lodden raised to 525 holding {K-Spades} {J-Spades} and then Alex Fitzgerald's 4,000 or so all in -- Fitzgeraldt held {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} and they were coinflipping. With it clearly being Lodden's day, the flop came down {2-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Hearts} for a flush draw, eliciting a wry chuckle from Fitzgerald, but he failed to hit on the {10-Diamonds} turn or {2-Diamonds} river and Fitzgerald doubled up, barely making a dent in Lodden's still impressive stack.

Kara Scott Eliminated

Kara Scott raised preflop but got very little respect for it and three callers, including Arnaud Mattern. They saw a {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {2-Spades} flop and Mattern checked. Kara led out for 1,400 and one player folded. The gentleman in seat nine, however, raised to 3,100 -- at which point Mattern unexpectedly went all in. Kara called all in, the gent in seat nine folded, and they flipped their cards.

Kara: {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}
Mattern: {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts}

Turn: {5-Hearts}

River: {J-Diamonds}

Thus Kara is out, while Mattern is up to 41,500.
