Antony Lellouche Eliminates Peter Jepsen, First to Top 100K

"Raise my blind again!" quipped Peter Jepsen as the action was folded around to Antony Lellouche. Lellouche, who has been quite active at his table, obliged with an opening raise to 2,900 and Jepsen made the call.

Jepsen led out for 7,900 on the flop, Lellouche raised to 18,000, and Jepsen shipped it in for 27,000 total. Lellouche called, his {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} in excellent shape against Jepsen's {K-?} {J-?}. No help for Jepsen as the turn and river came {7-?} {3-?} and he hit the rail.

With that pot, Lellouche's stack reached 103,500, the first player to top 100,000 in this event.

Biechel Busts

Another Frenchman down in the shape of Remy Biechel. It was looking ok for him, as he shoved the {K-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {10-Hearts} flop holding {10-Clubs} {10-Spades}, but young Josh Gould of the UK was holding {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} which came good on the {8-Hearts} turn and stayed good through the {9-Spades} river.

Gould now a contender, on 85,000.

Johnny Lodden Eliminated, a Drama in Three Acts

Act One:

Johnny Lodden moved all in from the button, Gino Alacqua moved all in behind him from the small blind, and the big blind folded. Lodden's {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts} was up against Alacqua's {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}. The board ran out {Q-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}, giving Alacqua the double-up and leaving Lodden on only 1,800 chips.

Act Two:

With the action folded to him in the cutoff, Lodden moved all in and chip leader Antony Lellouche obliged with a call. Lodden's {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} led Lellouche's {7-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, the flop coming down {K-Hearts} {10-Spades} {3-Spades} to make Lellouche middle pair and give Lodden a gutshot straight draw. The {4-Hearts} on the turn was no help to Lodden.

"Queen!" called Lellouche as the dealer burned and turned the river card.

It was the {Q-Hearts}, making Lodden's straight and doubling him up to 4,500.

Act Three:

Lodden was all in again on the next hand and got a caller in Jerzy Hajdamowicz in the big blind.

Lodden: {Q-Spades} {J-Clubs}
Hajdamowicz: {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}

The {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} flop paired up Lodden and gave him a straight draw to boot. The {6-Spades} hit the turn, but Hajdamowicz made Broadway when the {J-Hearts} spiked on the river, an eerie reverse of the previous hand.

"Riverstars!" shouted a railbird as Lodden made his exit.

Day Gets Worse for France Again

Following the exit of Remy Biechel, Pascal Perrault was next to drop. He was among several callers of a 2,400 preflop raise from Sven Leu under the gun, and when Leu bet out another 5,000 on the {10-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Spades} flop, Perrault made his stand and pushed all in. Unfortunately for him, Leu insta-called with top set, and although Perrault also made a set on the turn, his one out failed to materialise on the river and he's a goner.

Perrault: {8-Spades} {8-Hearts}
Leu: {10-Clubs} {10-Hearts}

Board: {10-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}
