Sebastian Ruthenberg Eliminated

Ruthen-bust
Ruthen-bust
Sebastian Ruthenberg opened for 4,600, Patric Martensson reraised to 18,000, Ruthenberg moved all in and Martensson insta-called.

It was a classic race, Ruthenberg's {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} up against Martensson's {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. Martensson paired up on the {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {2-Clubs} flop and Ruthenberg couldn't improve on the {7-Spades} turn or the {8-Spades} river.

When the stacks were counted down, all but 1,100 of Ruthenberg's 60,000+ chips were shipped across the table to Martensson, who is now on 123,000.

Ruthenberg's 1,100 chips were posted in the big blind on the next hand. Isabelle Mercier opened for 3,800, Atanas Gueorguiev reraised to 11,400 and Mercier folded. Ruthenberg looked at his cards for the first time to discover {6-Spades} {7-Diamonds}, and was up against {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} once again. {K-Spades} {10-Spades} {5-Spades} {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} on the board and the EPT Barcelona champion hit the rail.

Lellouche Lets Loose, and Quads for Csaba

A few minor disasters for Lellouche have resulted in his stack being almost halved to 50,000.

First, he raised to 4,000 and then, with a wince, called a push from Csaba Toth. Lellouche's pocket deuces were behind from the start against Toth's pocket eights, and as the flop came down {Q-?} {8-?} {8-?} givingToth quads and leaving Lellouche drawing dead, the turn and river were deemed unnecessary. Toth doubled up to 37,000 while Lellouche dropped to 72,000.

Then a few hands later, Lellouche doubled up Nico Behling to 46,000, Behling's {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} dominating Lellouche's {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. Three hearts came down on the board, but no fourth one for the flush appeared. Down to 50,000 for a rather disgruntled Lellouche.

French-on-French Violence

Arnaud Mattern moved all in for 17,000 and Antony Lellouche made the call. Lellouche turned up {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} and found himself a huge favorite against Mattern's {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds}.

The flop was {7-Spades} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}, Lellouche still leading. The turn was the {3-Clubs}, but the {2-Hearts} spiked on the river, making Mattern a set as the rail "Oooohed" at the river suck-out.

Things continue to go south for onetime chip leader Lellouche, who is now down to 26,000.

Dario at it Again

With the action folded around to Joao Barbosa in the small blind, he made it 5,500 to go. Dario Minieri, in the big blind, peeked down at his cards and reraised to 16,000. Barbosa quickly folded.

To rub salt into the wound, Minieri tabled {4-Clubs} {6-Spades} and Barbosa looked positively nauseous.

Rotach Doubles Through Minieri

Stefan Rotach raised from the hijack and Joao Barbosa and Dario Minieri both called in the small and big blinds respectively.

The flop came down {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {K-Hearts} and it checked around to Rotach, who bet 9,500; Barbosa passed but Minieri announced, "All in," thoroughly covering Rotach. Rotach called instantly, and his top two pair turned into a full house on the turn, rendering Minieri's rivered straight immaterial.

Rotach: {K-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}
Minieri: {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades}

Board: {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {J-Spades} {9-Clubs}

Rotach is up to 90,000, while Minieri, who had been up to 150,000, drops back down to around the 100,000 mark.

Antony Lellouche Eliminated

Not his day
Not his day
Andrea Benelli opened for 4,800 and Antony Lellouche moved all in for an additional 18,600 from the small blind. As Benelli tanked, Lellouche offered him a bit of advice.

"I can't win a showdown so you should call. I've won zero today!" he said with a smile.

Benelli made the call and turned over {A-Diamonds} {8-Spades} to Lellouche's {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs}.

Lellouche flopped good when it came down {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {2-Hearts} , pairing his four. The turn was a safe {9-Clubs} , but disaster struck on the river when the {8-Diamonds} fell, making Benelli the higher pair.

Resigned to his fate, Lellouche wished his tablemates luck and made a gracious exit as the flashbulbs of a dozen media vultures went off.
