Ruthenberg Gets Involved, Folds

Giving his opponent the evils
Giving his opponent the evils
And from one EPT Barcelona champion to another.

Sebastian Ruthenberg raised to 2,200 from the cutoff and received exactly one call from the gent on the button.

Flop: {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}

Ruthenberg checked, and his opponent, who was casually negotiating a massage with the lovely Frida while this was all taking place, bet 5,000. Call.

Turn: {J-Hearts}

Ruthenberg checked again, and this time his opponent bet 25,000 to cover Ruthenberg's remaining 18,500. Ruthenberg passed, and was whisked away to record some sort of promotional video shenanigans.

No Respect for Lyloff

Lyloff feels what his opponents have
Lyloff feels what his opponents have
You'd think that winning this tournament two years ago would entitle him to his fellow players' respect, but Sander Lyloff's preflop raise to 2,100 was called by no fewer than three players behind him and they all saw a {6-Spades} {7-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} flop.

Lyloff checked, and the first of his callers bet 5,500. The two other callers passed and the action moved back to Lyloff, who disappeared into the tank. When he came back out again, he declared, "I feel you have nothing," but folded anyway, giving the brave bettor the pot.

Arnaud Goes Home

Mattern (on the right, not being Roland de Wolfe)
Mattern (on the right, not being Roland de Wolfe)
Just before the break, Arnaud Mattern pushed from the big blind to a raise from the cutoff. Mattern tabled {K-?} {Q-?}, but was dominated by the cutoff who called with {A-?} {K-?}. Mattern entirely failed to spike, and is now faced with a lovely week in Barcelona with nothing to do.

Serock and Deeb Chop a Small Profit

Joe Serock raised to 1,400 and the player on the button called. The small blind was Freddy Deeb and he called as well before the big blind came along to join the party. The four players saw the flop come down {Q-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {6-Spades}. Everyone checked.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and again, everyone checked.

The river was the {9-Hearts} and action checked to Serock. He announced a bet of 3,600. The button folded, Deeb made the call and the big blind folded.

"King." announced Serock, tabling {K-Clubs} {4-Clubs}. Deeb showed a king as well with the {K-Spades} {3-Spades} and the two chopped up the pot.

One player commented on the two hands that the players turned over, to which Freddy responded, "I like any hand that wins."

Ready, Freddy, Go!

In a reraised pot, Andre Santos bet out 8,000 on the flop of {Q-Clubs} {8-Spades} {J-Spades}. Freddy Deeb made the call, and the pair saw a {K-Spades} turn whic both checked.

The river was the {Q-Diamonds} and Santos checked once more. Deeb set his opponent in for his last 20,050 but the Portuguese player gave it, preserving the remainder of his stack.

The Deeb Train Rollin'

Freddy Deeb

Freddy Deeb was in the big blind as action folded around to Joe Serock in middle position. Serock limped in and then the small blind moved all in for 6,975 total. Deeb announced a reraise and then Serock got out of the way quickly. The small blind tabled two sevens -- {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} -- but was behind Deeb's {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}.

The board ran out {6-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {10-Spades} and Deeb claimed another victim, moving to 86,000 in the process.
