Day 2 Completed

Day 2 Concludes; Onward to Day 3

Lapossie's the boss-ie
Lapossie's the boss-ie
It didn't even take our full allotted six levels to whittle the field down from 240 runners to 72 today, quite an impressive feat given that our average stack currently stands at around 50 big blinds.

The list of players who did not cash includes some weighty names -- Daniel Negreanu, Sandra Naujoks, Freddy Deeb and Ivan Demidov are among their unfortunate number. The list of folks who will be coming back tomorrow to battle their way into the serious money reads equally impressively, though -- Mike "Timex" McDonald, Roland de Wolfe, EPT Grand Final runner up Matt Woodward, Noah Boeken and Thierry van den Berg are just a few.

Big stacks going into Day 3 include Matt Lapossie, Carter Phillips and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. Join us back at the Casino Barcelona tomorrow from 12.30 GMT+2 when we'll be playing down to our final 24.

Bubble Bursts

And straight after the Veldhuis elimination we lost another player who got it in with {A-?} {3-?} from the big blind against the small blind's {A-?} {Q-?}. Neither player hit anything leaving us with 72 players to return tomorrow.

Veldhuis Out Before The Bubble

Not. A. Happy. Bunny.
Not. A. Happy. Bunny.
Poker is just brutal sometimes. Lex Veldhuis has been amongst the chip leaders since the start of Day 1B but at the end of today, the wheels came off in spectacular fashion.

Vedhuis ending up pushing his stack in preflop with {A-Hearts} {J-Spades} against the hyper-aggressive Swede Samer Rahman who had found {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}.

A {5-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {10-Clubs} board later and Veldhuis' EPT dream, this time, disappeared.

Reinkemeier Continues Good Run

Tobias Reinkemeier will be doing our lottery numbers tonight, he just had another player all-in preflop with {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} against {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}.

The flop: A bleak {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {4-Hearts}

The turn: An unhelpful {2-Clubs}

The river: A rather miraculous {A-Spades} which propels the German way up the leaderboard.

Veldhuis Has Wings Clipped

Lex Veldhuis has dropped a load of chips after getting another player all-in on a {Q-Clubs} {5-Spades} {K-Clubs} {J-Hearts} board holding {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} against {Q-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}.

The river was the {9-Hearts} though and the Dutchman takes a big hit.

Veldhuis is now as short as his fellow Dutchies on the table, Noah Boeken and Bas Steegers.

'Rivermanl' Busted

Rivermanl Just Did It
Rivermanl Just Did It
Tobias Reinkemeier has eliminated Laurence Houghton, Houghton had raised to 7,600 from late position and Reinkemeir made it 20,800 on the button.

Houghton thought for ages before pushing and Reinkemier instantly called with {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. Houghton showed {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} but couldn't find any love on the {3-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {8-Spades} {10-Spades} {8-Diamonds} board.
