Collecting the Antes

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier has taking his big stack and used it to abuse his table the closer we get to the money. If this were online and PokerTracker stats were available, his VPIP would figure to be a 75 with a PFR of 65 -- it's pretty nuts. If you look at ElkY's stack, you'll see the majority of the black T100 chips are towering in front of me. That could only mean one thing: the players at his table are letting him steal over and over to pick up the blinds and antes.

Just recently, one opponent defended, but after ElkY fired 11,100 on the flop and 25,000 on the turn with the board reading {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {9-Hearts}, the player gave up and folded his hand. ElkY showed pocket queens and let the table know that even he has a hand sometimes.

ElkY's sitting on about 425,000 chips.

Samer Wins Another Big Pot

Samer Rahman just won another pot worth a little under 200,000. He hald pocket nines and called an opponent's all-in bet preflop. The player held {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}. Samer's nines held and he scooped in the pot. Despite building up to 370,000 a little while ago, Samer dropped a few pots since. He is back up to 340,000 though.

He also just got moved to the table containing Lex Veldhuis, Marc Goodwin and Noah Boeken. That should be fun.

Houghton Out-Turned

A hit to the stack of Laurence Houghton, after he check-called a chunky bet on the turn of a {7-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {A-Spades} board. Both he and his opponent checked the {Q-Hearts} river and Houghton flipped {K-?} {J-?}, but his opponent tabled an {A-?} {10-?} that had got there on the turn, and Houghton is down to 105,000.

Nearly There

Things are going fairly swiftly -- we're down to 84 runners with a little over one level to go before we have to stop.

There is some danger that if we complete level 15 and have come very close to the bubble rather than actually bursting it, play will continue until we're in the money -- but with a bit of luck the short stacks will get busy and we'll hit the money soon.

Reaction to this from an anonymous player:

"84 left! 12 to go! We can smoke! The whole night!"

Our sentiments exactly.

ElkY Doing Well-kY

Hair that glows
Hair that glows
ElkY's knocked out another one -- this time a hapless unfortunate who shoved with {A-Clubs} {9-Spades} to an ElkY raise, only to find the shiny Frenchman calling with {A-Spades} {K-Spades}.

Board: {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}

ElkY moves on up to around 350,000.

Eric Can't Steal A Base

Eric 'basebaldy' Baldwin has been eliminated, he pushed over the top of an UTG raise with {K-Spades} {9-Spades} but found {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} waiting behind him.

The {5-?} {J-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds} board helped neither player but Ace-high was enough to eliminate the American.

Brewing Up Some Rahman

Gucci Mane
Gucci Mane
Samer Rahman just won a massive pot worth approximately 370,000 chips when he doubled up through an opponent. The action is unclear, but when we arrived at the table, Samer's chips were being counted down so his opponent could send over the exact amount he owed.

The board read {A-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {10-Clubs} {9-Hearts} and Rahman held {A-Spades} {7-Spades}. The player that lost the hand held {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}.

Camancho Drops a Little

Camancho, mancho man...
Camancho, mancho man...
Nestor Camancho has taken a bit of a hit after doubling up a short stack opponent. Excitable Romanian Constantin Cirstea was at one point involved in the hand, and the nervous all-in gent had to wait for some minutes while he had an extended argument with first the dealer and then a floorman about a 500 chip that Cirstea felt had at some point gone missing. Nevertheless, Camancho was the only caller, and they flipped their cards.

Camancho: {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}
Mr. All In: {5-Clubs} {5-Spades}

Board: {8-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades} to give Mr. All In a straight.

Camancho is nevertheless comfortable on 240,000.

Here's To You Mr Robinson

"We'd like to know a little bit about you for our file..."
"We'd like to know a little bit about you for our file..."
David Robinson has just knocked out two players after a three-way all-in on a {5-Spades} {7-Spades} {9-?} flop. Robinson held {5-?} {5-?} and was up against {K-?} {K-?} and {A-Spades} {4-Spades}.

The case {5-?} came on the turn sealing the deal and Robinson now is on 300,000.

However he just lost a small pot after calling a continuation bet from Mike McDonald before both checked the rest of the {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {9-Clubs} board down. Robinson's {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} rivered by Timex' cheeky {3-Clubs} {3-Spades}.
