Schaefer Takes A Chunk From Williams

This pot was no close Schaef-er
This pot was no close Schaef-er
On the turn of a {3-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {10-Spades} {5-Clubs} board, Brandon Schaefer bet 6,200 and David Williams made the call. The river was the {9-Spades} and Schaefer bet 13,500 this time, Williams gave it some thought before calling but mucked when he saw Schaefer's {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}.

Basebaldy's First Trip to Europe Going Well

Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin stopped in with Melissa Castello just before his dinner break to give us some insight to his first trip ever to Europe. Eric seems to be enjoying his trip and so far he's doing well in the tournament, although it's taken him a little extra time to figure out some of the European players.

Pieter de Korver Eliminated

Pieter de Korver - eliminated
Pieter de Korver - eliminated
A player opened with a raise to 2,100 and then Pieter de Korver moved all in for roughly 11,000. The player to Korver immediate right snap-called the all-in bet. The original raiser then open-folded pocket tens. Unfortunately for Korver, he also held pocket tens. The player that called the all-in bet held pocket kings.

Korver failed to improve on his longshot and was eliminated from the tournament.

Visser Busted

Ruben Visser, the Dutch pro, has been eliminated by Dario Minieri. Visser pushed from the button with {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} but Minieri had {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and ran out the victor on the {K-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} board.

Muy Bueno as Eastgate Hits the Rail

Eastgate - philosophical
Eastgate - philosophical
Peter Eastgate had some poor fortune and is now wandering the casino floor, no longer in the running for the EPT crown.

Most of the damage was done when he doubled up another player, the chips going in preflop. Eastgate held pocket {8-Diamonds} {8-Spades}, but the all-in gent was holding pocket {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} and with no help from the {2-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs} board, all in stayed in and Eastgate was down to roughly the 10-big-blind mark.

A few hands later he open-shoved in early position with {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades} and found himself called by Patrick Bueno on the button holding pocket {10-Spades} {10-Hearts}. He was coinflipping, but Bueno's tens held up, hitting an unnecessary set on the river of the {5-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} board to knock out the world champ.

Liu Doubles Up

Things are Liu-king up for JJ
Things are Liu-king up for JJ
JJ Liu has doubled up to stay in the game on 15,000 or so. We're not sure when the chips went in, but however it played out, she was holding {K-?} {7-?} and her opponent pocket threes; the board came down {A-?} {6-?} {9-?} {8-?} {5-?} to give Liu the straight.

Negreanu Continues To Play Small Ball

Nothing small about Negreanu's stack now -- 82K
Nothing small about Negreanu's stack now -- 82K
A player in middle position opened to 2,100 and Daniel Negreanu flatted on the button. The flop came down {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}. The player bet 2,300 into Negreanu. Negreanu made the call.

The turn came the {2-Spades} and the player bet again, this time for 3,500. Negreanu called again.

The river was the {9-Hearts} and Negreanu called a bet of 7,000 from his opponent. The player turned up {K-Clubs} {9-Clubs} for two pair, but Negreanu held {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} for a better two pair. Negreanu moved up to 82,000 on the hand.

He has been given a little flack from Lex Veldhuis about his small-ball strategy and after the hand mentioned, "You would've liked that one, Lex. You see it?"

Lex commented that he saw it after the flop, but also made a reference that Negreanu might've been able to get a lot more chips than he did had he raised at any point in the hand.

Dario Downed!

Off to the cash games...
Off to the cash games...
Dario Minieri is out. He raised to 2,100 and called a reraise of 8,200 from the player to his left. The flop was {2-Spades} {2-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} and Minieri check-raised all-in for about 33,000 over the top of an 18,800 continuation bet. His opponent prompty called with {Q-?} {Q-?} leaving Minieri's {9-Spades} {8-Spades} in hot water.

Both players hit a full house on the {2-Diamonds} turn and the {10-Spades} changed nothing.
