Hong In There

Pierre Neuville raised under the gun and picked up a caller in the cutoff, but Catherine Hong shoved for 37,000 or so from the big blind. Neither player fancied it, and she picks up a few much-needed chips.

Levi Breaks Sarwer

Jeff Sarwer
Jeff Sarwer
Disasterments for Jeff Sarwer; Nicolas Levi told us the story.

Levi opened with a raise, and then called a reraise from Sarwer in the small blind. The flop came king-rag-rag ("I do not remember what the other cards were because as soon as I saw the king I knew I was going to shove. They might as well not have been there.") and they both checked.

The turn was also a blank (see above) and Sarwer bet out 17,000. Levi called. Come the blank river (again), Sarwer shoved, and Levi called. Levi neglected to tell us what he actually had, but his hand contained a minimum of one king and it was enough to beat Sarwer's {A-?} {Q-?}.

Levi doubled to 145,000.

Down to shrapnel, Sarwer moved in with {K-?} {10-?} under the gun not long after and got called by the big blind holding {A-?} {J-?}. No outdraws, and he is a dino-Sarwer - extinct.

Woohoo for Juha

Rui Cao, who started the day just 100 chips short of the lead and only improved his stack until this point, has taken a bit of a hit.

He check-called 12,000 from Juha Lauttamus on the {7-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {A-Hearts} flop, and then check-called another 26,100 on the {3-Diamonds} turn. Cao checked a third time on the {Q-Spades} river - but after a long dwell, folded to Lauttamus' push for 94,500 on the {Q-Spades} river.

"Show the pocket ten! One time!" said Cao.

"I can tell you in the end of the day," replied Lauttamus jovially."

"But don't lie to me, or don't tell me," warned Cao. Lauttamus assured Cao that he would tell the truth, and they play on.

Cao: 180,000
Lauttamus: 200,000

Suharto Doing More Work

Things are looking up for Suharto
Things are looking up for Suharto
Luca Pagano and Darus Suharto built a pot of about 15,000 before the flop, and they went heads up to a {K-Spades} {5-Clubs} {3-Spades} board. Pagano led out with 12,000, and Suharto flat-called.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} and a check from Pagano. Suharto paused for a moment before sliding out a small bet of 16,000. Small bet or not, it was good enough to win him the pot as Pagano returned his cards to the dealer.

Suharto has new chips and he's not afraid to use them. Mark him up to 130,000 on your score sheets.

Suharto Drinking Double

We picked up the action on the flop as the dealer spread out {J-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. Bastian Trachte put out 7,600 chips, and Darus Suharto made it 15,800 total. Trachte announced another raise, but we couldn't hear the amount as he clumsily reached for chips. Before he was able to get the chips out across the line, Suharto's stack of 51,700 was in the middle. Trachte gave up trying to fiddle and just announced a call. Cards on their backs, gents:

Trachte: {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs}
Suharto: {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

Suharto was in fine shape to double, needing to fade just two outs to survive. When the turn and river brick-bricked ({9-Hearts} and {Q-Spades}), he did just that. He's now up to about 110,000 and all smiles.

French Pacifism

Arnaud Mattern has been to the right of ElkY for a while now, and we're waiting for fireworks at some point. For now though, the two Frenchmen seem content to surrender to each other's tactics.

In their latest min-skirmish, ElkY opened with a raise to 4,500 under the gun. The table folded around to Mattern, and he flicked in the call from the big blind. The two check-checked on a flop of {9-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}. When the {J-Clubs} paired the board on the turn, Mattern check-folded to a bet of 5,500. ElkY flashed his two cards, but too quick for us to see them. It looked like paint-paint, possibly pocket queens or queen-jack. Either way, Mattern smirked and knocked the table as the two bantered away in their native language.

Abidi to Bed

Faird Abidi, who spent today up until now slowly but surely accumulating chips, is out.

He smacked his {A-?} {Q-?} into the, er, {A-?} {J-?} of Zbib Ayman, who promptly flopped a jack and shouted, "YESSSS!!!."
