Break it Up

Apologies again for that little 10-minute spell of site maintenance. Just as our site returns to functionality, the players leave the room. We're three levels deep in Day 2, and it's time for another break. The tentative plan is to play three more before calling it a day.

Milanov in Trouble

Remaining Bulgarian hope Alexandar Milanov has suffered a near-fatal injury, doubling up an even shorter stack through no fault of his own.

Milanov: {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}
Mr. Shorter: {A-Hearts} {10-Spades}

Board: {5-Spades} {3-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {2-Spades} {9-Diamonds}

Milanov was left with just 6,000 or so. He doubled up a few hands later, but his new-found 13,000 stack still comprises fewer than 10 big blinds...

Margets Earning Double Miles on American Airlines

Once again, the details are a bit sparse on this hand, but it's still worth mentioning.

Leo Margets was down to about 45,000 before she got her chips into the middle with {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}. The board showed {3-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {9-Spades} {2-Hearts} {4-Clubs} when we walked up, so we can't be sure when the money got in, or even what her opponent's hand was. It's irrelevant though; Margets has doubled her way up to 90,000.

Sarwer Captures Roy's Pawn

Jeff Sarwer opened from early position with a raise to 4,000. Alain Roy made the call from the small blind, and they went heads up to a flop of {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. Both men check-checked, and the turn brought the {9-Clubs}. When Roy checked again, Sarwer took his cue to bet 6,100, and Roy's cards hit the muck in an instant.

The chess whiz has been up and down today, but the latest counts find him trending upwards once more. He's back to about 130,000, while Roy is working with right around 29,000.

Bye Bye, Boutboul

Bernard Boutboul
Bernard Boutboul
We just walked up to the tail end of a hand as we saw Bernard Boutboul standing and shaking hands with his (former) table. In the middle of the felt was an ace-high board, and the player next to him was dragging in the chips with {K-?} {Q-?} for king-high. We're not sure what cards Boutboul got his short stack into the middle with (possibly {Q-?} {J-?}), but either way, his day is done.

New Chip Leader Identified

Thanks to our Dutch friends at pokernews.nl for witnessing and then sharing the following information, via the medium of Marc Naalden:

Yann Brosolo four-bet preflop, called by the gentleman between Naalden and Patrick de Koster. Brosolo bet out on the {4-?} {4-?} {Q-?} flop and Mr. Next To de Koster called; Brosolo then went all in on the {J-?} turn. Mr. Next To de Koster called and his pocket kings were way ahead of Brosolo's pocket fives - but a third five on the river gave Brosolo a full house, and he is now breakaway chip leader on 350,000.
