Something to Gork At

Outfit of champions
Outfit of champions
Overnight chip leader Marc Gork has one-upped his awful clashing pink-and-orange outfit from the other day - today he has turned up wearing his regulation issue Hilton bathrobe and slippers, topped with his oversized furry Russian hat. A presence to be feared in the card room, indeed.

Katja Caught

Katja Thater is down to just 17,000 after doubling up a short stack who moved in on a {7-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {8-Spades} flop with {Q-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}. Thater called with {7-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}, failed to suck out on the {A-Clubs} turn or {9-Diamonds} river, and she is now in a short-stack predicament.

Calo High

An enormous pot had erupted while no-one was looking - there was perhaps 90,000 already in the middle by the time we got there on the river of the {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} board.

Furthermore, Frank Calo in early position had bet out an additional 22,400, driving his opponent Fabrice Cecchini into the tank. Cecchini had already sunk most of his stack into this pot, and had less than 40,000 left to his name. Eventually he folded, and Calo is newly numbered among the chip leaders - he's up to around 150,000.

Alexia Exits

Alexia Portal
Alexia Portal
Alexia Portal opened the pot on the button, and Tyler Bonkowski three-bet her from the small blind. She made the call, and they both watched a flop of {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {8-Clubs}. Bonkowski continued out with a bet of 6,500, drawing a raise to 19,500 from Portal. Bonkowski took that as his cue to move all in over the top, and Portal made the call to put herself at risk.

The news wasn't good for Ms. Portal. Bonkoswki tabled {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} for middle set, and she could only show {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts}, needing two running cards to stay alive. She would find no help on a blank turn and river though, and her day is done early.

Margets Moves Up

Before the flop, Leo Margets and Arie Kliper tangled up in a raising war that left Kliper all in for just about 30,000. He tabled {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}, and he was in bad shape against Margets and her {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}.

The flop was good times as it came down {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {2-Clubs}. Margets nailed her top set, but the three clubs gave Kliper a flush draw to work with. The {5-Hearts} on the turn was an airball though, and the {Q-Spades} on the river was too little, too late. Margets tallies the knockout, moving her stack right up to 100,000.
