Boeken Shoves

A player on the button opened with a raise to 8,000, and Noah Boeken moved all in for 79,600 total. His opponent went deep into the tank for a long while before surrendering his hand.

"Ace-jack?" asked Boeken. When the other man shook his head, Boeken revealed {A-Clubs} {10-Spades} with a shrug. "What can I do?" he asked rhetorically.

Boeken's back over 90,000 with that little chip-up pot.

Hold Everything

Just like that, we've got five levels behind us today. the remaining 120-some-odd players are out in the corridors for their final break of the night. We'll come back for one more level before calling it quits for Day 2.

Paying Pagano

Everyone's favorite scruffily-bearded Italian pro

Luca Pagano opened the pot from early position, and a middle-aged Italian gentleman in the big blind moved all in for about 70,000. Pagano quickly called with the covering stack, and the cards were turned up. The big blind showed two queens, {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}, but he was not in good shape. Pagano tabled {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}, and a board full of blanks ensued. It ran out {10-Spades} {2-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}.

Pagano's kings hold, and he's notched another knockout. The chips of his latest victim push him all the way up to 290,000.

Today's Going Very Quickly

As we approach the last break of the day, it seems like a good time to reflect on how super-mega-ultra-turbo-fast-quickly today has gone.

Runners who started Day 2: 328
Runners left now after five levels: 125

It's not entirely impossible that we'll make the money tonight at this rate.

A Heartless Game

Andreas Eiler called 17,000 on a {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} flop, and then checked behind on the {4-Hearts} turn. The river came down the {6-Hearts} and his opponent now tanked up. Eventually he bet out 25,000 - but Eiler called him with {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} and, unable to beat it, his opponent mucked.

Eiler up to 250,000.

Double Dutch

On the button, Dutch online stud Bijan Zahmat opened with a raise, and the big blind moved all in with a covering stack. Zahmat had 36,700 chips left, and they all went in as he turned over {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. He was ahead, but he must not have liked to see his opponent show up {J-Spades} {9-Clubs}, drawing live for the knockout.

But the dealer would save Zahmat as she ran out a board of {5-Spades} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}. No pairs for either man, and Zahmat's ace-high earns him a double up to about 75,000.

No Go For Greenwood

From under the gun, Arnaud Mattern opened the pot by flicking out a rainbow raise to 6,600 -- one of each color chip. A couple seats over, Kristoffer Edberg made the call, and action came to Luc Greenwood in position. He made a reraise to 16,500, enough to quickly fold Mattern. Edberg wasn't so easily pacified, though. He took his time studying Greenwood before adding a full stack of yellow T5,000 chips to the pot, a total re-reraise to 106,600. Greenwood frowned quickly and mucked even faster; he's sitting around 160,000 now.
