Visser Stack Gets Bigger

The last hand of the level bleeding into our break time, we caught it on the river, the board reading {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {3-Spades} {5-Clubs} {6-Spades}. Alexey Yuzikov checked to Ruben Visser, who bet 102,500. After what seemed like an age of good break time, Yuzikov called - but promptly mucked and stalked off when Visser tabled {Q-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for two pair.

Visser is over the 500,000 mark now.

Erkenov Exits

Olaf de Zeeuw opened the pot to 17,500 in middle position, and Ismail Erkenov called all in for just less than that. The table folded around, and it was heads up for Erkenov's tournament life.

The news wasn't good. He tabled {A-Spades} {6-Hearts}, in trouble against de Zeeuw and his {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. And things would only get worse as the flop came down {J-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts}, drawing a forlorn sigh from Erkenov. The turn {10-Clubs} gave him some chop outs to Broadway, but the {10-Diamonds} that rivered was no help. That's all for Erkenov, and de Zeeuw has moved his stack back up to about 160,000.

Frankfort Thwarted

With over 100,000 in the pot, Santiago Terrazas was all in for 135,000 and Jan Heitmann, with 150,000 left to his name, was so intense in contemplating whether or not to call that your bloggers entirely failed to notice that Berney Frankfort was also all in. Eventually Heitmann folded, Frankfort's predicament was discovered, and they were on their backs.

Frankfort: pocket sevens
Terrazas: pocket tens
Heitmann: "Ah, same hand."

Frankfort failed to find any miracles on the board, and out he goes.

Abacus Tots Up the Chips

We arrived to witness the following situation:

Manuel Cadilhe all in with {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}
Johan "busto_soon" van Til for more with {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}
Michel "The Abacus" Abecassis covering them both with {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}

Board: {5-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {8-Spades} {J-Clubs}

Busto_soon is busto now, as is Cadilhe.

Sarwer Tries to Hook Barbosa

Jeff Sarwer has just been moved to another table for the second time today, and apparently his reputation (or more accurately, his perception) precedes him. Just as he had finished un-racking his chips, Sarwer open-raised to 13,000, and Joao Barbosa moved all in for 110,000. Sarwer called with little drama, turning over {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}. Barbosa could only show {K-Diamonds} {9-Spades}, at risk for his tournament life.

The first four cards off the deck were no good for Barbosa: {Q-Spades} {4-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. The river, however, was an eye-widening {K-Spades}, saving Barbosa from his demise and doubling him up close to 230,000.

Visser Gives Up

Claudio Coelho opened the pot with an under-the-gun raise to 15,000, and two players called, including Ruben Visser.

The flop came out {A-Hearts} {2-Spades} {8-Hearts}, and Coelho continued out with a bet of 15,000. Visser stacked out a raise to 53,000 and stuck it in, and Coelho quickly called.

Fourth street brought the {9-Hearts}, and Coelho led right back out with another 15,000 chips. Visser just flatted this time, and the river was the {3-Diamonds}. Another 15,000 chips came from Coelho's end, and Visser quickly folded. He's slipped to about 385,000 now, while Coelho's stack has moved up steadily; he's somewhere around 320,000 now, though his slapdash chip-stacking technique makes it difficult to be sure.

Double or Nothing for Ainsworth

In a battle of the blinds, Jude Ainsworth and Ross Boatman got it all in, Ainsworth having the shorter of the two short stacks. He turned over {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts}, racing for his tournament life against Boatman's {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}.

The board ran out {3-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {2-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}, and that's safe for Ainsworth. He's doubled up to about 190,000, while Boatman has been crippled all the way back to about 30,000.

The Fall and Rise, and Fall, and Rise of Ross Boatman

"I've had two big races today and I've lost both of them," said Ross Boatman, still fairly cheerful. "Actually, I've lost every race in this tournament..."

A moment later, he was all in, open-shoving form the cutoff. "Ross Boatman is all in," he announced for the benefit of the bloggers, who knew that anyway. Olaf de Zeeuw called on the button, as did Aurelien Guiglini in the small blind.

"I'm going to try the standing up trick, see if that works," said Boatman. He stood up, rubbing his hands together.

The flop came down {5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {2-Hearts} and Boatman promptly sat back down. There was some muted laughter around the table, and eventually he stood up again. Guiglini bet out 38,000, prompting de Zeeuw to fold {6-Clubs} {6-Spades} face up. On their backs, and it was looking unfortunate for Boatman...

Boatman: {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} for an overpair
Guiglini: {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} for a set

But wait!

Turn: {J-Clubs}

River: {2-Spades}

Boatman's luck may finally have changed, and he triples up to around 80,000.

... and Fall

For the third time in just a few minutes, we find Ross Boatman involved in a pot for the rest of his chips. In middle position, Mohamed Razab raised to 12,500, and small blind Jude Ainsworth three-bet to 37,500. In the big blind, Boatman moved all in for somewhere around 60,000. He stood up behind his chair and bobbed his head to the music blasting through his headphones as Razab tanked for several minutes. When he folded, Ainsworth quickly called, turning over {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}. Boatman leaned over and tapped the felt in acknowledgement, flipping over his {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}.

The dealer burned a card and dealt three: the {K-Diamonds} stuck right in the door. In the end, the board of {K-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {A-Clubs} was no good at all for Boatman, and he has been sent up the creek.
