Yaroshevskiy Gets In Too Deeb

We join a hand in progress on the flop with the first three community cards reading {6-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. Heads up, Igor Yaroshevskiy checked, and Shaun Deeb fired out a bet of 1,350. Yaroshevskiy then check-raised to 3,200, and Deeb didn't waste much time making the call.

Fourth street brought the {7-Hearts}, and the Ukrainian native kept the betting lead, sliding out 5,200 chips. Deeb sat statue-still for a minute or two before plucking the calling chips off his stack and flipping them across the betting line.

The last card off was the {9-Clubs}. Yaroshevskiy eyed up his own stack, then that of his opponent. Both men had just less than 50,000 in front of them, and Yaroshevskiy was making all signs that he wanted to bet. And it looked like he wanted to bet big as he shuffled about 30,000 worth of yellows. After several long minutes though, he tapped the felt with one of those formerly shuffled chips. Deeb took that as his cue to bet, and he carefully selected 8,750 of them to throw out into the middle in a confetti-colored pile. Yaroshevskiy barely paused for effect before sending his cards back to the dealer, and Deeb couldn't resist opening up his {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} as he pulled in a nice pot.

Lika Likes Kings

Three players limped, the small blind called, and Lika Gerasimova checked from the big blind, meaning there were five players to see the flop come {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{3-Spades}.

It checked to a middle position player who bet 700, the button called, and the small blind folded. Then Gerasimova check-raised to 2,550. All folded back to the button, who thought a moment before folding as well.

Gerasimova now has 42,500.

Round Two to Gus

Following a flop of {J-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades}, a player sitting under the gun checked, then Alexander Shestakov, sitting UTG+1, bet 2,500 -- about half the pot. Gus Hansen called from late position, and the UTG player got out of the way.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds}. Shestakov checked, and with some deliberation Hansen pushed out a bet of 5,625, leaving himself about 11,000 behind. Shestakov thought a while, then gave it up.

Hansen bounces back to 23,000, while Shestakov has 41,000.

The Haves and the Have-Nots

As the day progresses here, the stacks are finally starting to spread out a bit as the players begin to make their Day 2 plans. A few of them have been consistently creeping in the right direction all day, while others can't seem to drag down a pot.

Alexander Rykov - 115,000
Shaun Deeb - 57,000
Andrew Malott - 58,000
Alexander Kostritsyn - 66,000

The Have-Nots
Mikhail Tulchinskiy - 14,500
Vitaly Lunkin - 11,700
Dmitry Stelmak - 6,700
Stuart Rutter - 14,000

Hansen Takes a Hit

Hansen sees he's beat
Hansen sees he's beat
With the board showing {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and about 5,000 already in the middle, Alexander Shestakov bet 3,000 and after some deliberation Gus Hansen made the call.

The river then brought the {10-Hearts} and a bet of 6,000 from Shestakov. Hansen riffled through his chips, eyes wide. "Well, well, well," he said aloud, then once more to himself. Finally, after two minutes of study, Hansen made the call.

Shestakov turned over {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for the nut flush. "That... is... the best hand," said Hansen with a wry grin as he mucked his cards.

Shestakov moves up to 46,000 after that one, while Hansen takes a hit to knock him back to 19,000.

Fabretti Fizzles Out

Pier Paolo Fabretti - Out
Pier Paolo Fabretti - Out
Konstantin Turchenko came in with a raise to 900 from the cutoff seat, and Tristan Clemencon made the call in the next seat over. In the small blind, Pier Paolo Fabretti announced an all in, committing his final 8,750 to the pot. After getting an approximate count, Turchenko quickly called, only to see Clemencon move all in for about 24,000 behind him! Turchenko went into the tank for a bit, shaking his head and staring down at his hole cards. Finally, he let them go reluctantly, and it was heads up for Fabretti's tournament life.

Showdown
Fabretti: {A-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Clemencon: {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

The board would run out blanks for the all-in player as it came {8-Clubs} {7-Spades} {6-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {2-Spades}. With that, Pier Paolo Fabretti becomes the second member of the Team PokerStars Pros to hit the exit here in Day 1b, following just a few minutes behind his Italian counterpart.

Hansen in the House

We weren't sure earlier -- and the ensuing power outage understandably distracted us from the subject for a while -- but Gus Hansen is indeed in the tournament, having bought in earlier. He's taken a seat at Table 16, and we'll surely give you an update on his progress soon.

Minieri Moves On

Not long after play resumed following our impromptu break, Dario Minieri was pushing his short stack all in on a queen-high flop with pocket tens, but unfortunately ran into an opponent holding queen-jack. Minieri is out.

New Plans

Thanks to the 20-minute delay for the power outage, today's schedule has been altered a bit. The missing time was added back to the clock, and the staff has decided to play through this upcoming break since we all basically just had one. Instead, there will be a full break at the end of level five before we play out the last two rounds of the day.
