Thierry Van Den Berg's stack has been all over the place today. He had a big stack early, was low on chips, and rebuilt only to find himself extremely short-stacked again after flopping the nuts and running into a flush draw in a huge pot. Van Den Berg got his last 6,000 and change in with against .
Flop: - "Ok, another three please," he asked the dealer.
Turn: - "That's alright. Need another spade now, or a three."
As mentioned earlier, Nicolas Levi has a special outfit on thanks to losing a last-longer bet with Alexia Portal at EPT Deauville. Gloria caught up with Levi on a recent break to discuss poker, the bet he made and the amazing attire he is rocking today. Check out the video.
With well over 20,000 in the pot by the river of the pot, Christer Johansson was faced with a 9,000 bet from his opponent. He spent a long time staring at the board looking rather unhappy, and eventually passed.
After that, the reigning Irish Open champion is down to 26,000.
Florian Langmann (position) and one other player (out of position) saw a flop. The other player checked and Langmann bet; Mr. Other now raised and Langmann called.
They saw an turn and this time Mr. Other checked. Langmann bet 5,500. Mr. Other very briefly considered his options, before shaking his head and for some reason reaching over to the community cards and pushing the away. He folded, and Langmann is up to 62,000.
There was a raise from a gentleman in mid position, and he got himself called by the cutoff, the small blind and Toni Ojala in the big blind. All four player saw a flop.
Flop:
Mr. Small Blind checked, and Ojala bet 2,200. The action moved to the original raiser, who turned to the realtively short-stacked small blind and asked him how much he had left. Then he raised to 7,000, leaving himself 11,000 behind.
Messrs. Cutoff and Small Blind folded with alacrity and the action was back on Ojala. He seemed to be battling with some sort of inner monologue for some time, and eventually made what was clearly a reluctant fold.
No feeling too sorry for Mr. Ojala though - he's still on around 60,000 after that.
Andreas Krause checked the action to Ketul Nathwani on a board. Nathwani bet, and Krause raised to 8,000. Nathwani thought for a minute before calling. The river was the , which probably didn't change much. Krause checked again, perhaps giving up after his check-raise didn't take it down on the turn. But when Nathwani bet 21,000, Krause felt the need to tank for three minutes before finding a fold. Hollywooding or a tough decision? Hard to tell.
We caught up with the action post-flop. Facing a board, Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis bet 1,400. His opponent raised to 5,000. After a moment, Veldhuis slid out 33,400, more than a big enough raise to put the guy all in. And the short stack took the bait and decided to risk his last 10,900 with for top pair. Veldhuis was far ahead with . The on the turn gave the at-risk player a few more rescue cards, and the on the river was the miracle he needed. Making a runner-runner straight to double up, he dropped Veldhuis to around 35,000.
William Thorson raised to 800 from middle position and the button called. Former EPT Warsaw winner Christophe Benzimra called from the big blind as well.
The flop came down and Benzimra checked. Thorson fired 2,500 and the button folded. Benzimra called.
The turn brought the and Benzimra checked. Thorson fired 5,800 and Benzimra called again. The river went check, check after the fell.
Benzimra tabled two pair with the and Thorson mucked his hand. With that pot, Benzimra increased to 39,000 while Thorson dropped to 22,000.
