Kelopuro Turns into Eastgate

"LarsLuzak" - Out
"LarsLuzak" - Out
We just went out to check on how Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro is making out after his stack had begun to slide into the danger zone. What we found on this check-in was that Kelopuro been turned into Peter Eastgate.

It appears that the Finn has been relieved of the rest of his chips, and Eastgate has taken his seat after a table break. And gotten right to work. Eastgate just eliminated his fellow Team PokerStars Pro Sebastian Ruthenberg during his first orbit at the new table. Eastgate is vying for the chip lead once again with about 295,000 in front of him.

Elk Season

We joined a three-handed pot in progress just as the dealer ran out a flop of {J-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {7-Clubs}. The big blind checked to the Elk, and he led out with a bet of 6,900. The third player in the hand called, the big blind folded away, and it was heads up the rest of the way.

Turn: {4-Hearts}. ElkY checked this time, and he would eventually call another bet of 15,900.

River: {4-Spades}. Another check from ElkY saw his opponent pause for a minute or two. Finally, he grabbed the 23,700 chips he had remaining and moved all in. ElkY asked for a count and made the call.

We'd never get to see his cards. ElkY's opponent showed {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} for the set, and the Team PokerStars Pro flung his cards into the muck with a bit of visible frustration. Shaking his head, ElkY counted down his stack after that hand; it sits at 129,000.

Inner Grace

After that (debatably) hilarious outdraw a little while back, Richard Grace has amassed even more chips and he's now up to 270,000. Most recently he picked up around 55,000 from a gentleman who decided to ship his stack in with {K-?} {J-?}, only to find Grace holding pocket queens. Must be nice.

"Oh, here we go..." he said cheerfully as he returned to his table to find Annette Obrestad sitting in her new seat directly to his left.

Arnaud More Tears

Matterminated
Matterminated
Arnaud Mattern is busto, as evidenced by his appearance in the media room.

It turns out that he'd just been moved to a new table when, with 49,000 left to his name, he picked up {A-Spades} {J-Spades} and raised. Another gentleman shipped his 45,000 stack in with {5-?} {7-?} offsuit, Mattern snap-called, and there was a showdown.

The door card was a jack. The other two flop cards were both sevens. Oops.

Down to just a few thousand chips, Mattern couldn't recover and busted out a few hands later.

Dinner Plans

The big board shows us that we have 131 players remaining in the field. That means we've dropped well over 100 players today, just more than halfway through Day 2.

We've got about 30 minutes left in the current level, after which will follow a 45-minute dinner break. Then it's two more levels of poker before bag-and-tag time.

The Disappearing Minieri

Team PokerStars Pro Dario Minieri is no longer a threat here at EPT Copenhagen. The diminutive Italian moved his diminutive stack into the middle preflop with two fives, only to run smack into Bahram Beleiverdi's pocket aces.

A board full of blanks ({8-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}) held the pocket aces and sent the always-jovial Minieri off to the rail.

Kyllon 'Em Dead

Reigning champion Jens Kyllonen raised to 4,000 in early position but was met with a reraise all in for around 40,000 in total from Marko Kannusmaki in the big blind.

Kyllonen, who would not be left with much if he called and lost, huffed and puffed for a bit while Kannusmaki sat back in his chair and looked very comfortable - rather too comfortable as it turned out, since Kyllonen eventually made the call and was more or less crushing him.

Kannusmaki: {6-Spades} {6-Diamonds}
Kyllonen: {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}

Board: {J-Clubs} {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}

Kannusmaki hit the rail, and Mr. Copenhagen EPT 2009 is back in the game on around 100,000.
