A Little More Jovial Now

Sheesh, we're just one step behind today. Once again, we join the action after all the money is in the middle. It looks like it went in before the flop, but it wouldn't be out of the question for it to have been a flop shove either. In any event...

Yevgeniy Timoshenko was all in for 44,000 with {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}, and he was racing against Dmitry Stelmak's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}. The board ran down {2-Spades} {10-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {7-Spades} {2-Clubs}, and that was safe for Timoshenko's pair. He's doubled his way up close to 90,000 courtesy of that pot.

Hansen Second Best and He Knows It

Gus
Gus
A player in early position opened to 4,000, and Gus Hansen three-bet to 11,100 from the blinds. When it came back to the original raiser, he moved all in for 60,400, and that sent Hansen into the tank.

"There's absolutely no chance I'm folding. But I might talk myself into it. What is it? Fifty-eight four?"

Leo Fernandez was eyeballing the bet as the dealer counted it out. "Looks like fifty-nine four."

"Fifty-nine four? Oh, that might swing it." The dealer then announced the correct amount, and Hansen was still toying with it. "Wow, sixty and four... I really might fold now. Usually this is the second-best hand."

With that, he plunked the calling chips into the middle. His opponent showed up {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}, and Hansen tabled the 'second-best' {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}

Board: {3-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {2-Spades} {5-Hearts} {2-Hearts}.

Hansen and his pocket jacks send a double up across the felt, and he has slipped back to 110,000.

Tidbits

Two very partial bits of hands:

Allen Bari found pocket kings against an opponent with pocket queens, and he is now the proud owner of a stack of 275,000 chips.

And Daniel Negreanu is on the comeback trail after quite the roller-coaster day. Up to 120,000, then down under 20,000. He was just all in for 31,700 with {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}, and the board ran {Q-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {A-Spades} {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} to double up once again. He's back to about 65,000.

Time Out

Mike McDonald moved all-in and Gus Hansen pushed most of his chips in the middle leaving Yohan [Removed:250] with a decision. After some thought and showing his cards (ace-jack) to most of his side of the table, he folded leaving McDonald all-in for his tournament life against Hansen.

Hansen:{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
McDonald: {A-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

The board rolled out {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and McDonald hit the rail.

Live and Let Dyer

Richard Lyndaker opened the pot to 3,500 in position, and Greg Dyer three-bet up to 11,000 from the blinds. Lyndaker called, and the two men watched a flop of {7-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}. Dyer continued out with a bet of 15,500, and his opponent asked him how much he had behind.

"About thirty-three, thirty-four," Dyer concluded, and dealer Charlie nodded in agreement. That drew a shove from Lyndaker, and Dyer quickly called to put himself at risk.

Showdown
Lyndaker: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}
Dyer: {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}

The turn {8-Spades} kept Dyer in front and took away Lyndaker's pair outs, and the {8-Clubs} on the river locked it up tight. Dyer's full house secures his double up, and he's worked his way back up to about 120,000.
