Luis Rufas finished in 41st place at this event last year. This year he has his eyes firmly set on a higher finish and at the moment he can do no wrong.
We caught up with him as he took 8,800 from EPT Vilamoura winner Toby Lewis after Lewis folded to a Rufas raise on a flop we didn't quite catch. Then while he was still counting his chips up he nonchalantly looked at his cards and threw 1,425 in for a raise. A player a few seat to his left pushed all-in for 11,275 and after a little think Rufas reluctantly made the call.
Rufas:
All-in Dude:
The board ran out and Rufas added the 11,275 to the stack he was still trying hard to stack up after his last win.

EPT VIlamoura Winner Toby Lewis will not be adding another EPT title to his trophy cabinet just quite yet.
We didn't catch the action has it happened but we are led to believe that he opened the action with a raise and Luis Rufas called in the big blind. The flop was and Rufas check-called a bet by Lewis. The turn was a King and Rufas again checked and Lewis bet. Rufas check-raised enough to put Lewis all-in and Lewis called.
Lewis:
Rufas:
The river was a 9 and Lewis was eliminated at the hands of the chip leader
When we arrived to see the flop reading , the player in the hijack was already all in for around 22,000, the player on the button all in for 17,000, and recent EPT Vienna finalist Konstantinos Nanos in the big blind had a decision to make.
He ummed and ahhed for some time, and eventually, with a thump, slammed the call on to the felt. He immediately smacked the table when he saw what he was up against, and shouted something that sounded like, "Russian Russian Russian flush draw jacks."

The gent with the jacks tripled up, while the busted Mr. Hijack offered a gentlemanly, "Nice hand, man, good luck," before taking his leave. Nanos picked up the side pot, but still made a considerable loss on the hand. He's down to 23,000.
Last one of the day. We'll be playing two more levels and then calling it a night.

Mick Binger has moved up the chip counts after eliminating a player at his table.
The player in early position moved all-in for 8,500 chips, as he had done just two hands earlier against Erik van den Berg in a split pot as both players had ace-king, but this time he had
Mick Binger, seated on the button, paused for a few moments before throwing in a handful of yellow 5,000 chips, forcing the blinds out of the hand.
Flop: Bingo for Binger as he spikes an ace to take the lead
Turn:
River:
Binger now has 96,150 chips and is very much in contention here

The gentleman in the hijack had opened for 2,200 when we arrived, and WSOP $2,500 NLH bracelet winner Tomer Berda was reraising to 5,375 from the button, leaving himself 16,000 behind. It folded back to the hijack who called, and they saw a flop.
Flop:
The hijack checked and Berda promptly went all in. With a flourish, his opponent tossed in the call, but then made a sound like, "Pfffff," when the cards were turned over.
Hijack Gentleman:
Berda:
The turn and river came down a harmless and respectively, and Berda doubled up to around 45,000.
