Early Table of Death

Players are still pouring in, desperate to shed €5,000 in an effort to take a stab at EPT glory, but one table is looking particularly fearsome at the moment. Check out this lineup:

- EPT Vilamoura champion Toby Lewis
- WSOP bracelet holder and winner of the PokerNews Cup Alpine Marc Naalden
- former Spanish international striker and Friend of PokerStars Poli Rincon
- 2009 WSOPE PLO finalist, and recent Amsterdam Master Classics runner up, Ville Haavisto

Some More Level One News

Team Pokerstars Pro Johnny Lodden is sat over at table 21 and has Dominik Nitsche to his left - Nitsche cashed in this same event last year.

Pokerstars Team Online André Coimbra is getting busy over at table 22. We caught up the flop showing {6-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} and a player in seat 2 had bet and Coimbra had called. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and the player in seat 2 bet 1,750 and Coimbra called. The river was the {q-Clubs} and both players checked. Coimbra took the pot with {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} which just pipped his opponents {8-Spades} {8-Hearts} to the post.

Hey Jude!

Team PokerStars Ireland Pro, Jude Ainsworth has just lost a large pot, leaving himself with 12,175 from his 30,000 starting stack.

We caught the hand just as Ainsworth had called bet of around 4,000 on a board reading {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}, leaving the dealer to burn a card and deal the {2-Spades} on the river.

The big blind bet 1,675 into a pot of around 15,000, which prompted the Galaway player to ask how much his opponent had behind. Remaining silent, the big blind moved his hands so Ainswroth could count the 12,000 chips he had remaining.

Another thirty seconds passed and Ainsworth finally made the call, but quickly mucked as his opponent showed {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for trip nines.

Ainsworth now has 12,125 chips

Split Pot

Over at table 13 there was an open from middle position and Team Pokerstars Pro Dario Minieri called from the small blind. The flop was {q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {k-Diamonds} and Mineri checked over to the raiser who bet 525 and Minieri called. The turn was the {a-Clubs} and this time the Italian led making it 1,500 to play and his opponent made the raise to 3,500. Minieri changed his stance for one second to shoot a glance over at his opponent before calling. The river was the {5-Spades} and Minieri bet 2,500 and his opponent called.

Minieri: {j-Diamonds} {10-Spades}

Opponent: {j-Clubs} {a-Spades}

Those Darn Gremlins

The internet connections here at the Casino de Barcelona are, well, interesting. If, as happened yesterday, we should go offline, never fear! We'll continue collecting information and will be posting it as soon as we can with the connection we have.

Apologies in advance for any technical difficulties...

More Tables of Note

A few more extremely interesting tables have begun to emerge.

At one end of the room, the diminutive Porsche-driving Italian Dario Minieri is sharing a table with his sleepy-looking fellow Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu, winner of the EPT Vienna €2,000 side event John Eames and 2009 PCA final table bubbler Jan Collado.

Elsewhere Spanish Team PokerStars Pro Juan Maceiras is sharing with EPT Copenhagen finalist Roberto Romanello, winner of the EPT Monte Carlo €2,000 side event Fabrice Soulier, Dutch bobble hat enthusiast Erik van den Berg and WSOP PLO finalist Dmitry Stelmak.

All Eyes On A Shivering Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu

As is usually the case, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu is being surounded by the cameras and reporters, all hoping to be the first to note a hand he played.

So far they are being disappointed as Negreanu is not playing as many pots as he usually does, instead he is sat shivering in the poker room and asking for a blanket.

"I'm freezing," declared Negreanu, before informing anyone willing to listen, myself included in that, that the air conditioning was blowing down the back of his neck.

"I'll try and commandeer a scarf," said one helpful PokerStars employee

"No. I want a blanket so I can wrap myself up," came the reply of the four-time WSOP bracelet winner
