We're down to our final three tables here in Deauville and it's PokerStars qualifier Alex Wice who'll be going into tomorrow with the chip lead with a staggering 3,410,000. The Canadian had a great final two levels to end the day, winning a couple of huge pots against Ahmed Abd El Fatah and Kevin Lambert to solidify his position at the top of the tree.
Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier became the final EPT winner to be eliminated when his set of nines ran into a flush blind-on-blind. This means that once again we will crown a brand new champion at the EPT, the wait for a double champion will have to go on a little longer. Two-time bracelet winner Praz Bansi managed his first cash in an EPT but couldn't make it much more than that as he found his run into .
PokerStars qualifier and EPT Vilamoura runner-up Martin Jacobson is still in the hunt, as is the entertaining Andrzej Nowak-Rogozinski and the awesomely named Belgian Fried Meulders.
Tomorrow, the tournament will be moved from the Centre International de Deauville back to the casino itself as we play down to our final table of eight.
We'll see you tomorrow from midday local time!
We only needed a cast of 24 players to start day five and we reached it right at the start of level 23. The day four bubble boy was Mesut Akbas. He moved his last 111,000 into the middle with and he was called by Fried Meulder who had . We didn't see the board but we know it didn't improve the hand of Akbas and he was eliminated in 25th place.
Fernando Valenciano has been eliminated in 26th place and earned himself €20,000. Valenciano had just taken his seat after the break when Kevin Lambert raised to 48,000. Valenciano three bet to 115,000 and Philip Jacobsen moved all-in from the blinds for 360,000 more. Lambert folded but Valenciano made the call.
Valenciano who had a chip protector covering his cards, a bullet on his chips, a toy soldier leaning against his chips and a half eaten twix in front of him managed to find his way through it all to expose . Jacobsen exposed for the classic coin flip situation.
The flop of put Jacobsen in the lead and the turn and river didn't change much and Jacobsen doubled up and crippled Valenciano in the process.
In the next hand Valenciano moved his last 76,000 into the middle and Martin Jacobson made the minimum three bet to 132,000. The action folded over to the chip leader Alex Wice who moved all-in and Jacobson got out of the way quicker than the Road Runner! Beep! Beep!

The very last hand of the level saw Alex Wice open to 45,000 and Kevin Lambert flat-called behind him to see a flop.
Wice fired out 55,000 and Lambert quickly made the call, the dealer put out a turn. This time Wice checked and Lambert wasted little time in betting 135,000 but his chip leader opponent was obstinate, making the call.
The river was the and Wice checked a second time, Lambert attempted a 200,000 bet but was called fairly speedily by the Canadian.
"Good call," said Lambert, flashing . Wice turned over to win the pot, he's now up to 3.2 million
Crippled earlier in that hand against Alex Wice, Ahmed Abd El Fatah was left with just over 12 big blinds, and when Martin Jacobson pushed all-in from the small blind, Fatah quickly called off his stack with dominating against Jacobson's .
The board came {8h though and Fatah was forced to the rail.
Phillip Jacobsen laconically stated to Jacobson, "You're a very good all-in player."
It folded around to Kenny Hallaert who started to count out a raise. "No, Kenny, no," complained Franck Pepe, "It's my big blind." Hallaert raised to 47,000 anyway. Pepe called.
They saw a flop and the action went:
