The organization here is somewhat reminiscent of how poker tournaments used to be run way back in the day - the seat draw is for some reason a closely guarded secret among the casino staff, and the three Main Event tables have been squashed into the very furthest corner of the room, press banned from going inside the rail. Ascertaining what's going on at Alex Wice's table, tucked behind the other two where no press are permitted to go, may be a problem.
Nevertheless from the permitted distance it looks like all 24 players have taken their seats, and cards are in the air. Good luck, everybody.
Today we start with 24 players who have had lashings of luck and a sllce of skill to manage to navigate themselves through 891 players. We are switching rooms and we move away from the cavernous annex and into the more cosy room in the Barriere Casino.
Each player is guaranteed a minimum of €23,000 and by the end of the day there will be only eight players remaining who will form our final table due to start at 12:00 tomorrow.
Leading the way today with 3,410,000 chips is Alex Wice who qualified for this event at Pokerstars.net. In fact there are no fewer than six players left who have either qualified through Pokerstars.net or Pokerstars.fr.
Tournament Director Thomas Kremser will kick us off at 12:00 and Team Pokernews will be bringing you the greatest coverage on the globe so stay tuned.
