Sevens Not Lucky for Van Der Aa

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Jack Powell
Jack Powell

Pim van der Aa was the next player to crash out in this super-high-speed Day 2.

He shoved, and to his left Jack Powell reshoved, successfully isolating. Van der Aa's {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} were no good against Powell's {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, and van der Aa stood up to leave the second he saw the third king drop.

Board: {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

Powell's at 320,000 after that.

Won't Be Baek

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Simon Ravnsbaek is the latest casualty hitting the buffet early, as his {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} turned out to be no good against Kevin Vandersmissen's {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. The board came down an ultimately uneventful {8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and Ravnsbaek stopped by the payout desk on his way to dinner.

Vandersmissen is up to 825,000.

There will now be a short Inter-missen

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Kevin Vandersmissen
Kevin Vandersmissen

Kevin Vandermissen is suffering the swings of epic flippage at the moment, first he won with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} to knock out Jan Wilken, who held {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} on a {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{7-}{10-} board.

Soon after though, it was the other way when Vandermissen then doubled up Simon Ravnsbaek, again the Belgian holding {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} but was no good versus {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} on a {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} board. Vandermissen lost all the chips he had previously gained but still remains with a respectable 500,000 stack

Rudolf's Done For Another Year

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Rudolf Koster's PokerStars.net EPT Snowfest is over after he came unstuck in a hand against Iulian Ruxandescu and one that angered Andrey Gulyy.

Gulyy raised to 16,500 from early position, next to act was Koster and he moved all in for 40,000 chips. The action then folded to Ruxandescu who moved all in for 450,000, which forced Gulyy out of the pot.

Gulyy was unhappy at the fact he was having to fold his pocket eights (he flashed them to Ruxandescu) and he would be even more upset when the board ran out in full.

Koster:{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Ruxandescu:{a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The {2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop brought some "ooh's" from the gathering crowds but any hopes of an upset were soon over as the turn and river were the {8-Hearts} (would have made Gulyy a set) and {4-Clubs} respectively to send Koster to the rail.

Daniele Guided Out of the Tournament Area

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Daniele Guidetti has been eliminated losing two hands in very quick succession to go from hero to zero.

First, he opened the betting to 21,000 from early position, next to act, Vladimir Geshkenbein made the call but Berhard Perner to his direct left moved all in for what turned out to be 97,000.

The action folded back to Guidetti and he moved all in and when Geshkenbein got out of the way the cards were turned onto their backs.

Guidetti:{a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Perner:{a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Board:{k-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} - The king on the flop helped to seal the deal and dropped Guidetti down to 160,000.

These chips went into the pot the very next hand when he again raised to 21,000 and again was called by Geshkenbein. The flop came down {3-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, Guidetti checked, Geshkenbein bet 30,000 and then snap-called when Guidetti moved all in.

Geshkenbein:{k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Guidetti:{adqc]

The turn and river came the {5-Spades} and {6-Diamonds} respectively and just like that Guidetti was eliminated from the tournament.

Lights of Broadway for Druif

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

More good fortune for Pieter Druif, as he raised preflop with {a-}{j-} and got a call from the gentleman on the button. Druif check-called a bet on the {a-}{q-}{10-} flop and they saw a {9-} turn. Druif shoved and his opponent called with {q-}{q-} for middle set - and the river dropped a {k-} making Druif a fortuitous Broadway straight.

Weeled Out

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Andrey Gulyy opened to 16,500 and Iulian Ruxandescu called behind, but David van der Weele shoved from the small blind for 134,000. Gulyy quickly folded but Ruxandescu decided to give him a spin and made the call.

Van de Weele: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Ruxandescu: dominating with {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Board: a completely uneventful {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Ruxandescu is now up to around three quarters of a million.

Nova-caine for the Soul

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Bastien Casanova was all-in preflop with {a-}{4-} against Pieter Druif's {k-}{j-} but the Dutch PokerStars qualifier managed to spike the river of a {4-}{7-}{8-}{2-}{j-} board to eliminated his short-stacked Swiss opponent.

Players are still dropping with decent regularity and there is a debate now as to whether the tournament will need a dinner break.

August off the Calendar

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

August Schlegl has been eliminated by Martins Adeniya when the former pushed all-in with {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts} from middle position for around 80,000 and the Brit called with {a-Spades}{9-Hearts} on the button.

The board was {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Diamonds} - Schlegl paired jacks were too little, too late against Adeniya's flopped pair of aces.
