Pagano in Trouble

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Luca Pagano
Luca Pagano

Domantas Klimciauskas opened to 11,000 from the button before Pieter Druif shoved for 58,500 from the small blind. In the big blind Luca Pagano reshoved, successfully isolating. He was ahead.

Pagano: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Druif: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Board: {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} ... {a-Spades} ... {10-Diamonds}

Druif doubled up to 120,000 - still short, but out of the danger zone for now. Pagano meanwhile looked heartbroken as he contemplated his remaining 83,000. He went all in a couple hands later and picked up the blinds and antes, but he's still in a spot of bother, with the blinds going up pretty soon.

Vlad Back With A Venckus

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The hyper-aggressive Vladimir Geshkenbein is not only playing well but running well too, a deadly combination for someone who plays his style.

Darius Venckus raised to 12,000 from the hijack seat and when the action folded to Geskenbein in the small blind he made it 30,000 to play. The big blind folded leaving Venckus to make a decision that could cost him his tournament life.

He moved all in for little over 65,000 and Geskenbein nonchalantly tossed in a pile of yellow 5,000 chips to cover the bet.

Geshkenbein:{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Venckus: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Although Venckus was in a dominating position the dealer put two sevens out on the flop and Venckus rose from his chair and was already on his way to pick up his prize money before the turn and river were dealt.

The young Russian has now surpassed the 700,000 chip mark and is going to be a real pain to play against.

Hering Landed, Gutted

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Morten Mortensen
Morten Mortensen

Kevin Vandersmissen min-raised under the gun, only for Alexander Hering to his immediate left to shove for 72,500. To his immediate left, Morten Mortensen called. Back to Vandersmissen, who folded, and the cards were turned over.

Hering: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Mortensen: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Board: {2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Hering was left belly-up, while Mortensen moved on up to 690,000.

Son Of Death Kills off Tureniec

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Michael Tureniec will not be winning back-to-back EPT titles as he has just been eliminated at the hands of Morten Mortensen.

Tureniec opened the betting with a raise to 10,500 from middle position, which was enough to fold everyone out except Mortensen in the small blind. After double checking his cards Mortensen made it 29,500 to play and the action went back to Tureniec.

After 20 seconds he announced he was all in and was instantly called by Mortensen, the latter turning over {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} and in front of Tureniec's {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

The flop of {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts} left Tureniec needing running cards but they failed to appear as the turn and river were the {8-Hearts} and {5-Spades} respectively.

Ruxandescu Makes Huge Bluff

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Iulian Ruxandescu has just proved his mettle, he 3-bet preflop in the small blind against Marc Ladouceur to 26,500 with the Canadian making the call.

The Romanian fired 25,500 on the flop, 56,500 on the turn and then moved all-in for around 110,000 on the river of a {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} board. Ladouceur called the first two bets but then tank-folded on the river, finally giving up his hand.

Ruxandescu showed {8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}...

Like Buses

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Constantin Georgescu, Nikolaus Deininger and Eckhard Siefer have all been eliminated from the event, the last of these pushing with {a-}{8-} into the {q-}{q-} belonging to Marc Ladouceur.

Aa Yeah

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Domantas Klimciauskas
Domantas Klimciauskas

Pim van der Aa in the small blind and Domantas Klimciauskas in the big saw an {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop on which all the chips went in.

Klimciauskas: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} for top pair
Van der Aa: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for a flush draw

Van der Aa's flush came in on the {4-Diamonds} turn, and that was the end of that. He doubled to 400,000, while Klimciauskas dropped right down to 170,000.

Bojang Busted

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Ismael Colin Bojang pushed from the button and in the big blind Vladimir Geshkenbein thought about briefly. "I usually snap this," he told him cheerfully. "Any other player..."

Geshkenbein called anyway, and they were on their backs.

Geshkenbein: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Bojang: {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Board: {2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Clubs}

The two of them spent the time it took to deal the board calling out cards that they would like to drop on the felt, culminating in Bojang requesting a ten on the river, which didn;t come. "Ten wouldn't have helped," Geshkenbein told him. "Oh, wait..."

Anyway, Bojang is now busto, and Geshkenbein is up to 700,000, a real force to be reckoned with now.

Super 'Nova

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Alex Kravchenko
Alex Kravchenko

Domantas Klimciauskas opened to 11,000 under the gun and Alex Kravchenko called behind before Bastien Casanova shoved for his last 24,500 from the button. Klimciauskas now reraised to 50,000, driving Kravchenko into the tank for a while. When he emerged, it was to push all in for around 325,000.

Klimciauskas folded and Kravchenko and Casanova turned their cards over.

Kravchenko: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Casanova: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Board: {j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Casanova more than tripled up to around 85,000, with the maximum of relieved huffing and puffing. Kravchenko roughly broke even.
