The first 15-minute break of the day is upon us. We will be back soon.
2011 PokerStars.it EPT San Remo
The European Poker Tour (EPT) is one of the biggest and baddest tours on the planet. People flock from all over the world to play in these events and interestingly a few tribes seem to develop. As we parted for the break the various members of the tribes gathered together to share their bad beat stories as they walked down the hall. Two people who seem to travel in two different tribes are Jack Ellwood from the UK and David Sonelin from Sweden. Both players have created fierce reputations online and travel in circles with former EPT winners. Ellwood travels to events with Jake Cody and Sonelin the same with Kent Lundmark.
Both players are attached at the hip over at table 31. Sonelin is sat in seat 9 with a set of shades on that wouldn't have looked out of place on the face of Eric Estrada in CHiPs. Ellwood is sat quiet as a mouse in seat 10.
Ellwood didn't play in many pots while we were watching but Sonelin got involved in one or two.
Sonelin raised from the cut-off with a bet of 375, Alberto Musini three-bet out of the small blind making it 1,025 to play and Sonelin called. The flop was
and a 1,600 Musini bet won the pot.
Then we caught a hand on a flop of
Andreas Lutz bet 2,200 and Sonelin called. The turn completed the flush
, Lutz checked and Sonelin bet 10,000 and it covered the Lutz stack. With his stack on the line Lutz eventually decided to fold and Sonelin took down the hand.
Will Sonelin or Ellwood follow in the footsteps of Cody or Lundmark?
Chris Moorman opened to 400 preflop with former EPT Winner Aaron Gustavson calling next to him while Peter Akery also called from the blinds to see a flop of

flop.
Akery led out for 1,125 on the flop and Moorman folded but Gustavson made the call to see a
turn, this time Akery bet 3,000 which was too much for the American, the latter releasing his hand.
Arnaud Mattern is up to 40,000 after winning a pot against someone he described as a "good thinking player."
Mattern had opened preflop with
and was called by said player as well as the blinds to see a flop of

. The French Team PokerStars Pro bet 800 on the flop and he was called in position while the blinds both folded.
Mattern bet 2,600 on the turn and again he was called, the river coming an
. Now Mattern bet 6,200 - "I was really polarising my range here," but his opponent was a non-believer and the made the call only to much upon seeing Mattern's ace queen.
Constant Rijkenberg, who won here two years ago, has dropped to just 25,000 after he agonised for several minutes before folding to an 18,500 bet on the river of a

board against Fredrik Andersson. Rijkenberg winced even as he made a fold but his Swedish opponent gave him no relief, mucking his own hand face down.
Michael Schurpf and Abdulaziz Abdulaziz (so good they named him twice) flat-called Ramzi Jelassi's preflop raise from the blinds. It was checked to Jelassi on the flop of

and the Swede bet 1,000 but Schurpf was the only caller to the
turn.
Schurpf checked a second time and Jelassi bet 2,600 which again so a quick call from his opponent to see the
on the river. Schurpf now slowly counted his chips and fired out 5,800 but Jelassi quickly raised to 13,800. Schurpf clearly hadn't been expecting a raise and tanked for several minutes before deciding to move all-in, Jelassi shrugged and snap-called with
for the flopped nuts.
Schurpf sighed, apparently whispering to his neighbour that he had a set of sixes. The Swede Jelassi is up to about 60,000.
As level one vanished into the distant memory of everyone, level two kick-started with blinds at 75/150. We decided to head over to table 24 for a gander and for good reason. It contains a former EPT winner in the shape of Jake Cody sat in seat 9, it contains a former EPT runner-up in the tattooed form of Emiliano Bono who is occupying seat 2, it contains Ludovic Lacay and a battered black eye in seat 3 and finally the beautiful Celine Bastian has parked her shapely form in seat 8.
While we were there we saw Bono pick up a few pots with some aggressive pre flop play. Lacay added some chips to his stack with a timely squeeze from the big blind and Cody took down a three-way pot with an uncontested continuation bet. Then we finally saw a hand that went all the way and it involved Bono and Bastian.
Bastian opened up with a bet of 400 from early position and Bono called in the hijack. The blinds moved out of the way leaving the two of them to share a flop of
. Bastian continued her pre flop lead with a bet of 700 and Bono called. The turn was the
and Bastian did not slow down with a bet of 1,000. Bono reached for chips, before stopping and re-evaluating, he looked at Bastian and finally raised to 2,300. Bastian didn't want to leave the board quite yet and she made the call. The river was the
and Bastian took her high heel off the gas and checked to the EPT Prague runner-up. Bono huffed and he puffed but instead of blowing the house down he bet 4,450. Bastian called quite quickly and Bono showed
for the full-house and Bastian mucked her cards unseen.

Marco Adams is up to 52,000 after he eliminated Luca Paganelli. Adams was holding
on a board of

against his opponent's
who had apparently been prepared to go all the way.
"I think he was a little bit tilted from a previous hand," said Adams gracefully. The Dutch player is the early chip leader with 52,000.

It's like that whole business with the aces against the tens never happened at all. Reset. Go.
