Shorties Fight Back

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Nicola Grieco has doubled up his short stack to 140,000 with {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} through Alessandro Fasolis' {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} when the board came a sixless {2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Fasolis remains with about 450,000 however.

Elsewhere, PokerStars qualifier Bart Verbanck doubled up with {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} against Nicolas Yunis' {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} to recover his stack to a slightly-less-in-danger 110,000. Yunis still has over 400,000.

James Sudworth just posted on his twitter account that he is out, he pushed for around 90,000 with {a-}{j-} but ran into {q-}{q-} and {k-}{k-} and failed to spike his ace.

Carter Phillips Makes a Hero Call…But!

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Carter Phillips
Carter Phillips

Carter Phillips raised to 15,000 from early position and Gianluca Benvenuto called on the button as did the big blind. The flop was {4-Hearts} {10-Spades} {2-Clubs} and Phillips check-called a 25,000 Benvenuto bet whilst the big blind got out of the way. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and Phillips bet 45,000 and Benvenuto raised to 105,000. Phillips had around 370,000 in front of him and he made the call. The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Phillips checked to Benvenuto who moved two towers of yellow chips across the line. Each tower was 100k and Phillips only had around 265,000 in front of him. He thought for a very long time before deciding he was good and he made the call.

Benvenuto turned over {a-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} for the bluff and incredibly Phillips mucked his hand. He had correctly deduced that Benvenuto was bluffing but he must have only had a high card hand himself. Phillips was visibly fuming and now has 65,000 left.

Andrew Teng is so good he beats multiple people with just ace high

Andrew Teng has just eliminated EPT Prague winner Roberto Romanello and Xavier Arnal with Ace high.

Romanello moved his last 79,500 over the line before Arnal re-shoved with 127,500. Andrew Teng tanked for a long while before calling from the big blind.

Teng: {a-Diamonds} {k-Diamonds}
Romanello: {k-Spades} {9-Spades}
Arnal: {a-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

Board: {6-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {2-Spades} {8-Spades}

Rigged: New Chip Leader

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

With the board reading {k-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and a couple of hundred thousand already in the pot, Max Heinzelmann fired out 123,000 on the river only for Luca Rigano to make 340,000 to go. Heinzelmann made the call with {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} but he'd been rivered by his opponent's {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for the biggest pot of the tournament so far.

Heinzelmann dropped to 550,000 while Rigano moved to 1,170,000.

Lykov Passes the Test

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Max Lykov
Max Lykov

Domenico Lannone has just put Max Lykov to the test and he passed with flying colours. It was your classic blind on blind battle. There was 60,000 in the pot by the time we got there and the flop was {j-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {7-Spades}. Lykov had to check-call three streets of pressure from Lannone in the big blind. The flop bet was 21,000, the turn bet was 45,000 and the river bet was 85,000. Lykov thought long and hard about the call on the river and when he said "call," Lannone immediately mucked his cards. Lykov scooped the pot without revealing his hand.

Lykov ~ 580,000

Side Event Madness

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

The €2,000 side event is well underway today here in the casino and already it has a monstrous 420 runners (and that isn't the final number yet). This looks like it could be one of the biggest ever side event prizepools in EPT history with an estimated €200,000 for first place.
