Nicolas Chouity Bubbles PokerStars.it EPT San Remo

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante
Nicolas Chouity. No € for him this time.
Nicolas Chouity. No € for him this time.

Last year's Grand Final winner and PokerStars Qualifer Nicolas Chouity has bubbled EPT San Remo after getting in big battle preflop with the very aggressive Alessandro Fasolis who had initially raised on the button. It looked as though Chouity had 3-bet and then shoved over Fasolis' 4-bet for a pot approaching the 500,000 mark with the Italian making the call.

Chouity: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Fasolis: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The Vandersmissen hand over, the players and media flocked across to this table as Thomas Kremser announced that Chouity needed to catch a ten or he would be out on the bubble. The flop came {2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} bring no help to either player though someone jokingly shouted "Seven!" which brought a few cackles. The {K-Hearts} turn changed nothing, Chouity down to just one of his two outs on the river but the {7-Spades} came instead and the Lebanese player was eliminated to the sound of a round of applause and cheering.

Vandersmissen Bubble Double

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante
Kevin Vandersmissen
Kevin Vandersmissen

The flop read {k-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{3-Spades} when Kevin Vandersmissen bet out 28,000 from the big blind position. A couple seats down, Maurizio Baisi made it 56,000 to go. Vandersmissen made it 104,000, Baisi then went all in, and Vandersmissen called all in. There was a pause of some minutes while the other tables finished their hands, which Vandersmissen spent giggling and flipping off his buddies who were saying something presumably hilarious in Dutch behind him, and then the cards were turned over.

Baisi: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for two pair
Vandersmissen: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for a bigger two pair

Turn: {6-Spades}

River: {2-Spades}

Vandersmissen had even more reason to giggle when the hand was over - he'd survived the bubble and doubled up to around 600,000. Baisi meanwhile was left with just 35,000 - not a good spot to be in on the bubble. But a few tables down, another player was all in and called...

Ruben Eviscerates Ruben

The bubble can be a good place to accumulate some scared chips but, as this hand proves, it can also be a place to lose some chips to people who simply are not easily scared.

Fresh off the back of his recent win against Roy, Visser raised to 8,000 from under the gun and Roberto Spada called in the big blind.

Flop: {9-Hearts} {k-Diamonds} {j-Clubs}

Spada check-called a 11,700 bet from Visser.

Turn: {2-Clubs}

The vultures started to gather around the table hoping and praying that this would be the hand. Spada checked and Visser bet 31,600 - maybe the vultures were going to get their carcass after all - Spada calmly called.

River: {6-Diamonds}

Spada checked for the third time and Visser sensed that the all-in move, on the bubble, would be enough to get the hand through and he said "all-in." Spada was in no mood for folding and he called. The place went crazy with everyone gathering around the table but the smile on Visser's face said it all. There was not going to be a bubble boy during this hand.

Spada turned over {k-Clubs} {q-Hearts} for top pair and Visser turned over {a-} {10-} for the bluff.

Visser ~ 110,000
Spada ~ 260,000

Ruben Eviscerates Roy

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Team Pokerstars Pro Ruben Visser just took a large chunk out of the side of Alain Roy's stack during the bubble. We caught the action on a flop of {5-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {8-Spades} and both players checked. The turn was the {j-Clubs}, Visser bet 10,600, Roy raised to 25,000 and Visser called. The river was the {7-Spades} and Visser bet 38,800 and Roy called instantly.

Visser showed {9-Spades} {9-Diamonds} for the straight that got there on the river and Roy mucked his cards unseen.

Visser ~ 250,000
Roy ~ 56,000

Bubble Time

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Giuseppe De Leonardi is one of our unfortunate bubblers, losing out with {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} to {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} just off the money when the board came {5-Spades}{j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

We now have 145 players remaining and are hand for hand. During the first hand, someone cheekily shouted out "Player out!" which caused a ripple of applause and cheers until tournament director Thomas Kremser announced there were still 145 players remaining.

Naughty boy.

So Long Sihvo

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Xavier Arnal has just eliminated EPT regular Lari Sihvo.

Arnal raised to 8,700 and Sihvo moved all-in and Arnal called.

Sihvo: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}
Arnal: {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}

Arnal rather needlessly improved his hand when he hit a ten on the river and now has 170,000
