Darcourt Heading the Pack After Day 1b
Day 1b of the 2011 PokerStars.com EPT Barcelona is in the history books after the second flight of starters ran through their first nine levels on the felt. The final number for today was 465 and that put the grand total to 811 entrants, smashing past last year's record. With that record comes a whopping first-place prize of €850,000.
Leading the way after Day 1b is Guillaume Darcourt, who managed to bag up 195,300 in chips and top the pack. He'll take the overall chip lead into Day 2 tomorrow right along with his bright pink hair in hopes of blazing his way deep in the event.
Team PokerStars Pro was out in full effect yet again with players such as Eugene Katchalov, Jason Mercier, Leo Fernandez, Arnaud Mattern, Victor Ramdin, Ivan Demidov, Jonathan Duhamel and Matthias De Meulder. All of those players will be moving on to Day 2 while Viktor Blom, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Daniel Negreanu, Dario Minieri, Chris Moneymaker and John Duthie all hit the rail.
The remaining players from the two starting fields will return tomorrow at noon to continue their quest for EPT glory. Be sure to head right back here to PokerNews for all the live coverage of the event!
