Day 3 Completed
Well that was quite a day of poker.
Our returning field for this Day 3 at the PokerStars.com EPT Barcelona was 141 players strong, and it was littered with dangerous players. Fortunately for those still alive, many of the sharks were harpooned over the course of the 7+ levels that we ran through today.
The Team PokerStars family began to dissolve right from the word 'go' as Ivan Demidov and Leo Fernandez were among the very first casualties of the day. Next to fall was the SportStar, tennis legend Boris Becker who was enjoying his first in-the-money finish in an EPT Main Event. It all came crashing down in 97th place, though, and Becker was joined by Benny Spindler, Rino Mathis, and Jan Skampa as those taking home mini-cashes of €8,000.
Vanessa Selbst at times looked like she might take control of this day, but her run came to a big end in the middle of the day. She got her money in good with ace-king and a shot at a huge pot, but Juan Navarrete's ace-jack got there to send her on her way with a small cash. The PokerStars Team continued to thin as Victor Ramdin, Andre Akkari, and Alex Kravchenko were also run out over the course of this brutal day.
When all the shouting was done, there were 24 players left, and it's Matthias De Meulder and Eugene Katchalov left to defend the PokerStars team. They (and the other 21 players) are chasing Tomeu Gomila and his monster stack of 2.547 million puts him a couple hundred thousand chips out in front. Other notables still in the mix include Raul Mestre, Evgeny Zaytsev, Marton Czuczor, and Sigurd Eskeland.
The penultimate day is slated for noon tomorrow, and we'll be back here as they play this thing down to a final table.
Until tomorrow, all that's left is goodnight! Oh, and your Day 4 table draw:

Quickly after the double up by Dragan Kostic, there was another all in just a few feet over. When the crowd moved from one table to swarm the other, it was witnessed that Miguel Magan Tier was all in preflop with the versus the
of Massimilano Martinez. Magan Tier was the player at risk in the hand.
The flop came down and quickly silenced all hopes of a double up as Martinez smashed a full house. The turn was the
and the river the
to complete the board.
Magan Tier was all out of chips in 25th place and the clock was quickly paused with 36 minutes left in Level 23. With the day now over and the players bagging and tagging, we'll have a complete end-of-day recap coming for you shortly.

From under the gun, Sigurd Eskeland raised to 46,000. Play folded around to Dragan Kostic in the big blind and he moved all in for 343,000. Eskeland made the call.
Eskeland:
Kostic:
The flop, turn and river ran out to give Kostic the double up.
A pair of eleventh-hour double-ups here.
First, Juan Manuel Perez Cornejo got all in for 368,000 preflop holding
, and Raul Mestre called him down with the inferior
(but the far superior chip stack). The board came
, and Cornejo found his double. Don't worry too much about Mestre for now; he's still got 2.375 million.
Moments later at another table, Rumen Nanev once again got himself all in, this time for 191,000 with the ol'
. He was the first into the pot, shoving from the small blind, and big blind Xavier Carruggi made the quick call with
. Nanev would find salvation again as the board ran
.
We're not going anywhere just yet.
Well, Rumen Nanev has taken the first step toward getting back in this thing. First into the pot, he shoved for 64,000, and he was called in two places. The board would end up running
, and the two live players checked it down.
At showdown, Nanev flipped up his
, and both the other two sets of cards quickly hit the muck. He's still quite short, but Nanev has managed to stave off elimination for now, climbing back to 220,000.

First into the pot from middle position, Eugene Katchalov raised to 45,000, and Rumen Nanev three-bet to 140,000 on the button. When it folded back to Katchalov, he'd spend a couple minutes soaking in the tank before announcing an all in for 748,000. Nanev needed some tank time of his own, considering the call for nearly all his own chips. Finally, he mustered the gumption and committed the chips to the pot. Katchalov was at risk, and the news was not good.
Showdown
Katchalov:
Nanev:
Katchalov barely reacted as the dealer dropped a
flop on board, giving him the come-from-behind set and putting him two cards from a big double. The turn
was a blank for Nanev, now needing to catch one of his own two-outers for the knockout. The river was the
, though, and it's Katchalov who will drag this pot. Finally, he reacted with just a small shake of his head, the dealer counting out his double to move him all the way up to 1.545 million.
For Nanev, it's a crippling blow. He's left with just 70,000 now.

Bartolome Gomila Romero is up to around 2.3 million chips after he knocked out Jose Angel Latorre Marina and Simon Charette in one hand, but his victory was blighted by an angle shoot.
The action folded to Romero on the button and he put in a raise to 46,000 before Marina snap shoved for 602,000 from the small blind. The action was now on Charette and he asked for a count of the all-in. The dealer gave him a count and he had very little time to think before Romero called the clock on him. Floor man JP was in attendance and ruled against the clock calling and was given praise for his ruling by Matthias De Meulder.
This seemed to affect the tired looking Charrette and very soon after he re-shoved for around 680,000 and Romero was in waiting to make an instant call.
Romero:
Marina:
Charette:
The board ran to hand the monster pot to the Spaniard who was now being mobbed by his supporters. Charette was saying it felt like a set-up due to the way his two opponents had been playing all day, and he still had the class to say, "Nice hand" to Romero.
Vadzim Kursevich raised to 47,000 from under the gun before Raul Mestre three-bet to 110,000 from the next seat. Action folded around the table and fell back on Kursevich. He reraised all in for about 300,000 and Mestre called.
Kursevich:
Mestre:
The board ran out to eliminate Kursevich and send Mestre's stack up to 2.68 million in chips.
