Sam El Sayed Not Happy

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Sam El Sayed is an unhappy bunny over at the far side of the room. Why? Because his ace-deuce got cracked, if that is even possible.

We were alerted to his table when El Sayed become extremely vocal, even going as far as dropping a couple of "F-bombs." It appears his money and that of Nikolas Liakos went in preflop with El Sayed holding {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Liakos {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}. The final board ran out {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{3-Hearts} sending El Sayed into a tirade.

"I knew I had you well beat," said the Swiss national, before describing the hand as "un****ing believable" He seems to have calmed down now and avoided any penalties. maybe some Camomile tea is in order for Mr El Sayed.

Ignat Liviu The Comeback Kid

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Ignat Liviu is used being able to reload his stack whenever he wants to as he is one of the biggest lifetime winners in PokerStars cash games, where he plays as 0human0. Just 90 minutes ago he found himself down to 8,000 in chips but he is now the proud owner of 51,400 of them!

He just added to his stack when Jeff Sarwer opened on the button to 900 and he called in the big blind. The flop came down {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, Liviu initially checked, then called Sarwer's 1,600 continuation bet. The {4-Diamonds} arrived on the turn and both players opted to check but there was no such passivity on the river as Liviu bet 4,000 when the {J-Hearts} showed its face.

Sarwer tilted his head to one side an thoroughly examined the board. He did so for 30 seconds or so before folding and tapping the table.

Fold and Show

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

If you've ever listened to EPT Live you might have heard Nick Wealthall moan about why players shouldn't fold and show an ace to a three-bet.

Mark Pukhov raised from early position to 1,000 only for Kelly to three-bet to 2,500 from the next seat. The Russian folded and as he went to reveal a card my internal Nick Wealthall impression was saying, "Here we go again!" but to my surprise he opened the {4-Clubs}.

Kelly let a big smile spread across his face before he also tabled one card - the {4-Spades}! "That's more like it", continued Wealthall in my head.

Baroni and Ozhenilok Move Into Contention

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

While having a gander at Jani Sointula's table it was Irene Baroni and Anatolli Ozhenilok who caught the eye. Firstly, PokerStars qualifier Alexis Abrante raised to 1,000 from middle position and Baroni defended her big blind. Both players checked the flop of {4-Spades} {6-Spades} {7-Diamonds} before a 1,800 bet on the turn of {10-Diamonds} won the pot for Baroni.

Then Baroni raised to 850 on the button and Ozhenilok defended his big blind. The flop of {2-Hearts} {j-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} saw the Russian check-call a 1,250 Baroni bet and then the action wilted away. Both the turn {2-Spades} and the river {j-Clubs} were checked and Ozhenilok won the pot holding ace high.

Ozhenilok{a-Diamonds} {3-Spades}
Baroni{q-Spades} {4-Hearts}

Ozhenilok ~ 90,000
Baroni ~ 69,000

Sarwer On The Up, Again

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jeff Sarwer has been quite active so far this tournament and his stack has been up and down as a result. It has just gone in the right direction once against after a battle with Eugen Wagner went in his favour.

The action folded to Sarwer in the hijack seat and he wasted no time in opening the betting with a raise to 900. Wagner, seated in the cutoff, raised to 1,800 and only Sarwer called. The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Sarwer check-called Wagner's 1,500. Both players checked the arrival of the {6-Diamonds} on the turn but when the {Q-Hearts} fell on the river, Sarwer lead out with a bet of 6,100, enough to force out his opponent.

Sarwer now has 17,000

Eames Picks Up Another Pot

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
John Eames
John Eames

John Eames is up to 48,000 after helping himself to a decent sized pot over on Table 3.

It was Mikhail Shahnovich who starting the betting preflop with a raise to 800 from middle position. Two players folded and Eames made the call from the cutoff and Mikael Bergius called from the big blind. A flop reading {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Clubs} was greeted by a check from Bergius, a continuation bet of 1,400 from Shahnovich, a call from Eames and then a fold by Bergius.

The dealer put the {j-Diamonds} out on the turn and Eames' call on the flop slowed down Shahnovich who now checked. Eames was not wiling to let his opponent see the river card for free so put out a bet of 3,300. Shahnovich quickly called and the dealer introduced he {Q-Hearts} on the river. Shahnovich checked again, and Eames bet again, this time 6,100. This last bet was enough to win the pot as Shahnovich relinquished his hand.

Anyone Fancy a Fight With T7 Offsuit?

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

There are plenty of ways to move all-in for 12,000 chips with the blinds at 200/400 with an ante of 50, but moving all-in with {10-Clubs} {7-Spades} is not one of the hands you are going to automatically pluck out of your head, but that is exactly the hand that the PokerStars qualifier Vasili Karpenkou found and decided that it was time for a move. The beneficiary was Paolo Della Penna who woke up to find {q-Diamonds} {q-Spades} and the board of {6-Spades} {a-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Spades} was enough to eliminate Karpenkou and push della Penna back up to over 65,000 chips.

Benny Spinning it Up

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Benny Spindler was low and needed to get his chips in, and did. He got them in behind but no bother as there were three outs in the deck and one of them had his name stamped on the back.

He three-bet all-in for 7,500 with {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and was called by Georgios Tzimas with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. An ace appeared on the flop and that was all she wrote.

Michael Tureniec Loses His Battle With the Grind

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Michael Tureniec will not be adding an EPT Tallinn win to his collection.
Michael Tureniec will not be adding an EPT Tallinn win to his collection.

Michael Tureniec has just left the building. Behind him we saw a board of {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {k-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {j-Diamonds} and around 5,000 chips being pushed into the direction of Ivan Kudriavtsev. The table chatter confirming all of the money went into the middle pre flop with Tureniec in middle position and Kudriavtsev occupying the button.

Kudriavtsev{3-Clubs} {3-Hearts}
Tureniec{a-Spades} {10-Diamonds}
